After The Fire

About Me

After The Fire are best known for their worldwide hit 'Der Kommissar' which reached No 5 in the US single charts in 1983. They did have a number of hits in different countries and one of their instrumentals not only became the theme music for the cult German TV kids show, Na Sowas, it was also adopted by Bayern Munich as their run-out music.

In 2004 Peter Banks and John Russell played again as After The Fire, joined by John's son, Matt, on drums and Ian Niblo, Bass, for a fan club (known as Friends of ATF) reunion. Since then the band has played at festivals and fund raising events.

After The Fire support the Naisoya Water Project in conjunction with the SoapBox Communications Trust and actively raise funds for that good cause under the name AidTF . The band donates a minumium of 1 pound from all sales through their WebShop.

Sounds Like: Have a check through some of the Comments (and the sounds)! After The Fire very much created their own sound. However, there were influences of the time - originally the band started off as a Organ / Synth based 3 piece with inevitable comparisons to ELP. Once After The Fire started to write songs instead of epics the band became more original.

1 week to gigtime!

Just one week to go and have to confess to be both excited and nervous! The last time the band played was in the Christian Aid tent during Greenbelt 2005. That bit went really well, an informal unplug...
