About Me

What to say? I was born in Northern Italy and still live there. I run a recording studio (four people working) and have been a musician and record producer for, uhm, 12 years I guess. Projects... too many to mention! No specific genre either: I've done them all, from Baroque to Post-Punk. The idea is that the music counts, not the clothes it wears. Among my fondest memories are the albums I've done with Giovanni Sollima (Canti Rocciosi), Stefano Bollani (Gente In Cerca Di Nuvole), David Jackson (DVD), Judge Smith (The Full English), Paddy Milner (Based On A True Stories). And yes, my own Tantus Labor as well! I live next to the studio on the hills surrounding Rovereto, a little great town in Trentino, not so far from the Austrian border. I am married to Chiara, who works with me, and we try to escape from everyday's work routine by pretending that we are, respectively, a cat and an actinia. :-)

My Interests

Music, of course. Movies, philosophy, books... you name it.

I'd like to meet:

Musicians, singers, songwriters, talents... and essentially, interesting people! Before you ask: yes, I do listen to demos - always; but no, do NOT send them unsolicited... they may not be noticed, and then you'd be very, very pissed off. ;-)

Music:

Anything, really - as long as it makes sense and has The Power Of Music. I am not very interested in dance stuff, and I may have occasional problems with the most delirious fringes of contemporary music (sometimes too heady, dissonant and ultimately shooting onto itself), but in general I will listen to anything, really... from renaissance to post-punk. As long as it makes sense and has The Power Of Music. What's that? Well... uhm. Call me. :-)

Movies:

The Elephant Man - David Lynch... Eyes Wide Shut - Stanley Kubrick... Shining - SK again... a lot, really.

Television:

What's that?

Books:

Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. No doubt!

Heroes:

A tough one... let's see. Well, my father, for sure. He died almost three years ago of lung cancer. The legacy he left - and I mean the ethos of a human being, and his teachings - still drives me onward today.

GAME OVER

I came back from MIDEM... well, about a couple of weeks ago. Very little to say, or a lot to say - it really depends on the mood. The problem is easy to understand: the whole of the music business is ...

I iPod!

Ah-ha! Paddy Milner's mega-mix burned out one of my discs (two actually... they went to sleep forever a few days after he left), and so I bought two new ones about 600MB each. I lovingly christened th...

VIV (Very Interesting Voice)

I just finished to cut a two-song demo with a young singer called Elisa Amistadi. Funny: I've heard her name for ages, and one day I discovered she lives literally one minute away from the studio... T...

Had to stop...

So, while Paddy is touring Germany these days, I am getting on with bits of work. In particular I am comping the vocals on a track called "Changes". The reason why I'm writing right now is... I've had...

Harrowdown Hill

A friend told me the most recent Thom Yorke video was available on YouTube. I had a look, and was caught forever. Yorke has been slashed by some critics for his album "The Eraser", but I personally th...
