About Me

I was born April 16 1889.My Father(Charles Chaplin SR) died in the early 1900s of alcohalism. Me, My Mother (Hannah),and my brother(Sydney)lived together in a poor neighborhood. When my Mother went nuts in the earrly part of the centery me and Sydney were sent to workhouses. It was here were i got my only schooling.I got 2 years of schooling. Years Past.Sydney got me a job working with the Fred Karno Troupe. (Stan Laurel served in that exact troupe. He worked with me.)and while the Troupe was in the states (in the town of Butte,Montana) i got a telegram from a man named (Mack)Sennett to go to California to make "Flickers". I acepted. I directed my first movie when i was 27 in 1915. The movie was "20 minutes to love". After that i directed all my movies after that. In 1927 "Talkies" cam out with the realse of The Jazz Singer. The movie industry went nuts with this new tecnology but i thought the tramp could not talk so i diecieded to stay silent till 1936. In 1936 i realsed Modern Times and in the movie at the end the tramp sings a song in a mock italien language. After that i made The Great Dictor in 1940. Which was a hit.The Tramp doesnt appear in this movie. Ten i realsed Monsier Verdoux in 1947. I got the idea from Orson Welles. In 1952 i realsed Limelight. that movie was not that big because McCarthy had every one thinking that i was a comunist.so they kicked me out of the country i realsed A King in New York in england and A Countess From HOng Kong during these years. In 1972 i was aloud to return to the country to recieve a lifetime achivement award. In 1975 i was knighted by the queen becoming Sir Charles Chaplin.Chaplin died on Christmas of 1977 at the age of 88. ..
