honeybird & the birdies è un trio eclettico formato nel 2007 da tre musicisti sperimentali a Roma. Suonano e cantano canzoni scritte da honeybird con strumenti, ritmi ed energie da tutto il mondo.

honeybird è nata e cresciuta a Los Angeles circondata da musica: il padre romano suonicchiava stornelli mentre sua madre newyorchese “kvetch-ava†in yiddish. La sua visita in Bolivia nel 2003 ebbe un profondo impatto su di lei con la scoperta del charango, uno strumento tradizionale delle Ande con 10 corde, che ispirò nuove canzoni. Nei suoi successivi viaggi in America Latina, incontrò le lotte sociali, gioco’ la capoeira e conobbe le comunità indigene – questi i semi da cui fiorisce la musica di honeybird.
p-birdie è nata in Sicilia e si è trasferita a Roma nel 2006 per studiare canto. Il suo primo approccio con la musica è stato attraverso il flauto; la chiamavano “pifferaio magico†per come suonava bene e per il suo ritmo incantato. Ha fatto parte di un gruppo rock di sole ragazze,â€le zero in condottaâ€, dove suonava la batteria. Attualmente si diverte da morire a dilettarsi con le molteplici percussioni che il mondo honeybird offre.
ginobird (Gino Guain) viene da Anzio dove suona il basso, dorme poco e perde a poker.

honeybird & the birdies is an eclectic trio formed in 2007 by three experimental musicians in Rome. They play, sing and perform honeybird songs using instruments, rhythms and energies from around the world.
honeybird was born and raised in Los Angeles. She heard music from an early age as her Italian father strummed and sang Mediterranean melodies and her New Yorker mother kvetched in yiddish. Her passion for creating music began at the age of 3 sitting on an upright piano then embracing the upright bass, until one day the guitar took center stage and she began writing honeybird songs. In 2003 she visited Bolivia which had a powerful impact on her life – both as a cultural and social eye-opener – and that is where she found her first charango, a 10-string traditional Andean instrument, which inspired new honeybird songs such as “shrinking mindâ€. Her travels in Latin America and contact with social issues, capoeira and indigenous communities are very present in what she does.
honeybird writes sings and dreams about pachamama, justice and the colorful cultures of our world - from mapuche to raramuri, japanese to quechua, italian to iraqi, brazilian to nahuatl. her music sings praise for those who have courage and aren't afraid of standing up and speaking what they believe and feel.
