About Me

I was born in griffith nsw, I am a descendant of the WIRADJURI nation. I have three children Rhimi, Rikarli and Rininya, most that know us refer to us as the R family... because both their dad and I have been in the performing arts industry, they have grown up around it, from dancing onstage with bangarra, blaqseedz, garrabarra's, to performing at indigenous festival, have also done short films, Rikarli also was in June/July 06 issue of teen mag "Dolly" the issue was about all the different nationality's in Aus and there she was with the aboriginal flag (red black and yellow) next to her name...I am sooooo proud of each of them and you know of all the performing I've done Nationally, Internationally, Opera house, performing for Prime ministers, Princes and Princess's etc etc the proudest and most beautifully rewarding moment of my career was when I Choreographed and performed in the Indigenous dance section of the "Rugby World Cup" a few years ago @ telstra stadium, the three of my children performed, to see them all painted up in ochre just moments before we performed, was soooo emotional for me, soooo beautiful and and definatly soooo inspiring, i will never forget that feeling...I have been a Performing Artist based in Sydney for about 15 or so years, I studied dance at both Redfern Dance Theatre and Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre which today is known as naisda, learning both traditional aboriginal/torres strait islander and contemporary styles of dance. I have danced for many Indegenous Choreographers and many Artistic Directors such Stephen Page (bangarra), Albert David, Raymond Blanco, Maralyn Miller, Bernadette Walong, Jason Pitt, my Sister Kerry Johnson (blaqseedz) and Mathew Doyle, Rodah Roberts (garrabarras) Gavin Jones (deadly vibe) and am greatful for what each has taught me on my journey as a performing artist, I have also danced along side many "gifted" and "talented" Indigenous Performers such as Russell Page, Earle Rosas, Kerry Johnson, Sidney Saltner, Djakapuura, Dion Hastings, Gavin Ivey, Jason Pitt, Hartley Williams, Vicki Vanhout, Albert David, Mikey Giea, Cecelia Geissler, Gina Reuben, Shane Mcewan, Josh Thiaday, Nathan Leslie, Pinau Gee, Maralyn Miller, Francis Rings, Patrick Thiaday, Elma Criss, Angela Johnson and the list goes on and on too much "Deadly Indigenous Talent" in oz...In 2005 I won dancer of the year @ the Deadly Awards which is held annually at the Opera House in Sydney, its a night when he Indigenous Community are bought together (thanks to the deadly team there at vibe) to recognise all the deadly talent out there from dance, acting, music, sport health etc etc and I have been fortuate to be one of the performers in 04 05 and 06 under the Choreographic direction of my sister Kerry and the Artistic Direction of Gavin Jones...I have done some film and television stuff "water rats" "farscape" short films "dare to dream" directed and written by Adrian Wells "inasmuch" writter director Jason Pitt and even got the oppotunity to write and direct my own "unstuck",even got the opportunity to play an extra on the feature film "matrix reloaded"...I have started writing mainly film script (short and feature etc) type and am working on a couple of ideas at the moment...
