About Me

Welcome to my ‘Myspace’ page! As far as personal info goes, I was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, of Jamaican/Canadian heritage. According to my mother, my musical talents were officially discovered when I was three. Everytime the album of the musical South Pacific was put on the record player (remember those?...) I would love to sing and dance along with 'I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair' etc. Inspired by Diana Ross & the Supremes and the like on the Ed Sullivan Show, soon music and performing were my thing. Over the years, my career as a singer, and actress, has taken me on a thrilling journey to Europe, the U.S., across Canada, as far south as New Zealand and as far north as the Arctic. Theatre credits include: Charlaine in Ain’t Misbehavin, Erzulie in Once on this Island, Phyllis Hyman in Sophisticated Ladies, Darlene Love in Leader of the Pack and the Acid Queen in The Who’s Tommy. Film & television credits include: the role of Harriet Tubman in the Gemini-nominated Sing Out Freedom Train, the ABC remake of The Music Man, Eloise at Christmastime and recurring roles in Soul Food, Drop the Beat and Degrassi the Next Generation. Last year, I was thrilled to return to my home town to be honored by my high school, Thomas A. Blakelock, and inducted into their Hall of Fame with former Cabinet minister, Otto Jelinek, 2X Grey Cup winning former football player, Danny Ferrone, and award-winning Jazz guitarist, Johannes Linstead. Currently I am one of the stars of the CBC comedy 'Little Mosque on the Prairie' playing Nigerian cafe owner, Fatima Dinssa. She has been a great challenge and a lot of fun. We are currently shooting our second season, in Toronto & Saskatchewan. A heartfelt thanks to everyone…around the world…who have supported the show! My Interests

When I'm not involved in some area of the entertainment industry: acting, songwriting, etc...I am always open to learning something new and I'm a bit of a technology junkie. I love fashion and fashion design which has developed into a pretty extensive collection of black Barbie dolls. My interest in aromatherapy and natural remedies led to the creation of a cottage industry of bath and body products called 'Luxessentials'. I am also fascinated with the properties of gems, silver and semi-precious stones which led me to start designing jewellery for myself, then friends, and then a small clientele! They say we only use a small percentage of our brain and hey...life's to short and you only go around once! "A mind is a terrible thing to waste!"

I'd like to meet:

In a nutshell...I'm here to network and connect with creative positive fun-loving people with similar interests! Actors, musicians, songwriters, artists, writers, designers...you know who you are!
