I would never forget when I seen the first trained dog. I was 8 years old and there was breaking news that 2 convicts escape from jail and they had them trapped in a park but they did not know where. My mother told me not to go outside but no I had to see the police dogs. I ran to the park where they were and pushed my way thru the crowd and this skinny police officer who asked me do you wanna see the dog?? I said YES!!!! He put me on the roof of his car. He bought the dog out and said stay there watch him work. He had to walk about 30 feet and the dog went OFF barking and spinning. The officer in charge said "let him go"! The dog went running straight to a pile of trash and to my surprise a white prisoner came running out of the other side the dog took him down the other prisoner jumped from a tree and started running the skinny officer said get him!!!!! The dog let go of the white prisoner and ran down the the other prisoner which was black. Every since then I been HOOKED. I recieved my first dog training book at the age of 11 from my best friends mother. I studied that book like crazy everyday I would understand different things. I started watching the guys around the city who had dogs and how they would walk them and I just shook my head in saddness. As to my surprise there was a school in Kansas that taught everything that there was about dog training. To my surprise the very book I recieved when I was a child " William Koehler Method of Dog Training" Frank Catania knew him very well and told me the story behind the book. I attended Midwest K9 Training Estates Where I graduated at the top of my class and recieved my license for Professional Handler , Show Judge and State Representative for Global Kennel Club. I am also a Court Pet Expert. I am the First African American Licensed Professional Handler .
