Jogging (I run anywhere from 6 - 12 miles 6 days a week), weightlifting, dancing, going to comedy shows, shopping, dancing, playing golf, any activity that involves laughing and having fun. I really enjoy watching football and basketball (I am a season ticket holder), wrestling (I used to be a mat maid at my high school, Lincoln East High), teaching, dancing, salsa dancing, window shopping, ballroom dancing, shopping on credit, and did I mention, shopping and dancing?

I like quite the assortment: Maroon5, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, Babyface, Billy Joel, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, Chicago, Michael McDonald, The Doobie Brothers, Queen, Boz Scaggs, Whitney Houston (before Bobby Brown), Queen Latifah, Michael Jackson (yeah I like him, so what?) and Elton John, just to name a few. I used to be an on-air radio personality in the early 80s (WONE 91.7 FM), I do hold a major bias for a lot of the Old School R & B (i.e., Dazz Band, Teena Marie, Rick James, George Clinton, etc). I also like all of the 50s and 60s music, Motown hits in particular--the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell, Smokey, and the Tempting Temptations. I adore and absolutely LOVE Elvis (he gave blacks a lot of credit for his musical and fashion styles). Other musical artists I enjoy are: Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Lou Rawls, Joe Simon, Sam Cooke, and Teddy Pendergrass. And, yes, I am a litle bit country and rock and roll (i.e. artists like Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, and Kenny Chesny).

A hero is someone who faces his/her fears instead of running from them. A hero stands firm to his/her convictions, and fights for what he/she believes is right. Facing fears and standing firm are two traits that make heroes different from cowards. You see, both may hold strong convictions. Both may hold the same values. And, both may have the same fears. But it is how you respond to your fears and convictions that differentiates the hero from the coward. The coward simply runs from his/her fear(s). A hero faces his/her fears, standing firm, and fighting for what he/she believes in. With this in mind, here are my heros or the people who throughout their life on earth have faced fears and triumphed: Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, my Mom, my Sister, Sidney Poitier, Stevie Wonder (for getting the MLK Holiday to be nationally recongized), "Flight 93" and all the heroes (i.e., police officers, workers in the Pentagon, the towers, and firemen/women) involved in 9/11/2001, survivors of breast cancer, anyone who tries-out for and stands in front of the judges for "American Idol," Laurence Fishburne, "angus", "rudy," Nia Vardalos for writing her own story and refusing to let the word "no" stand in her way, and my all-time hero, Angela Bassett, for standing firm and refusing to do a "sex scene" in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
