About Me

Brandon Elliot Smith "Full Moon" by Brandy REMAKE:

Brandon Elliot Smith is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. He is a multi-talented entertainer who holds his own as a highly-skilled vocalist and musician. Brandon plays several instruments including keyboards, organ, piano, drums & he also has developed into a skilled producer & songwriter. Brandon has been singing since age 2 1/2, he began playing keyboards/piano at the same age, he began playing the drums at age 6, he began playing the organ at age 12 and he began producing music at age 16. Like most of todays talented vocalists, musicians, producers & songwriters, Brandon polished his musical skills in the church where he did everything from leading songs, to playing the organ/piano/drums, to acting as the musician/director for several choirs.
Brandon has received numerous accolades, including but not limited to being selected into the Arizona Grammy Regional All-Star Jazz Choir for three consecutive years during High School. As a result of his extensive musical achievements, Brandon was awarded a scholarship to the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Brandon studied at Berklee for two years as a voice student majoring in Professional Music. While at Berklee, Brandon further polished his skills as a vocalist/musician/producer/songwriter. Brandon was invited to perform as a guest soloist at Boston College, he performed as a soloist and background vocalist with the "Berklee Motown Performance Ensemble", and he lead several songs with the world-renowned "Berklee Reverence Gospel Choir" both on and off campus (including but not limited to a performance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the Historic Boston Symphony Hall).
On the production side, Brandon took part in the Tonos Hip-Hop Producing challenge where he composed an original instrumental musical selection. At the end of the competition, Brandon was selected as one of the top 3 finalists out of thousands of entrants from around the world. Brandons major production credits include a performance arrangement of the song "Lets Dance" (by Hezekiah Walker and J. Moss) for the River Of Life Dance Team during the 2001 Gospel Academy Awards in Phoenix, Arizona. Even more recent, Brandon composed a medley arrangement of "Conquerors" (by Natalie Wilson & the S.O.P. Chorale) and "No Way" (by Tye Tribbett and GA) to be performed by the First Institutional Baptist Church combined Youth/Young Adult Choirs during the halftime show for the Phoenix Mercury Womens Basketball Team in 2005.
In 2003, Brandon was chosen as one of the top 30 contestants in the very first Fox 10 "Arizona Idol" Competition held at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 1,000 people auditioned for this event. Brandon was chosen yet again as one of the top 30 contestants for this same event in 2006. Brandon was one of only a few artists selected into the finals for the second season of the "Showcase Sundays" Talent Competition held at the Jackson's on 3rd Nightclub in downtown Phoenix on September 25th, 2005. On 10/11/05, "You Lied", track 3 from Brandons first demonstration project, received airplay on local radio station Power 98.3 FM during the "Tuesday Night Spotlight", a weekly evening showcase for local talent. Hundreds of local listeners called in within the hour after the song was played & Brandons song received nothing but rave reviews from each caller. Most recently, in 2006 Brandons song "You Lied" also won him the first place grand prize of $10,000 within the R&B category during the first annual AmericanIdolUnderground.com "Big Push" competition. Over 500 singers from all around the country competed for this prize within the R&B category.
Brandon performs locally at various engagements throughout the Phoenix area and he has worked as a lead/background vocalist, a pianist/organist as well as a producer/arranger/songwriter both inside and outside of the state of Arizona. He has performed with &/or appeared on the same stage with several world-renowned recording artists and songwriters including Brandy, Christina Aguilera, Blaque, Marques Houston, Mario, Issac Hayes, Kim Burrell, Eddie James, Daryl Coley, Brent Jones, Nolan Williams Jr., Marvin Sapp, CeCe Winans and Vicki Winans. Brandons goal is to become one of the most versatile male R&B/Pop mainstream recording artists in the world (as well as one of the most successful). Most importantly, Brandon dreams of someday being able to use his success to form new and creative methods of giving back to the community (both young and old) by way of helping those less fortunate & protecting animals. With such an extensive list of achievements at such a young age, Brandon is on the right track towards becoming a household name when it comes to entertainment. Don't know him??? Well get ready, because here he comes!

Sounds Like: VOCALS

MYSELF, LOL... But for those who insist on a comparison, i'm probably a mix somewhere between J. Moss, Brandy and Whitney Houston since I listen to those 3 the most. I'd love to run like Kim but man, who wouldn't? LOL... I kinda gave up trying a while ago, that woman is bananas.

KEYBOARDS/ORGAN

I sat under Dennis Montgomery III at Berklee College of Music for a couple years. I've also picked up some things from Kevin Bond & Melvin Crispell... I've learned from so many different people, but I probably sound closest to Dennis since I actually was around him the most. I think I fell in love with that Roland MKS-20 Piano from listening to Cedric Thompson & some west coast kats (icu Mike, lol). I went lightweight & got the P-330 tho.

DRUMS

OK, I didn't have a set when I was a kid & everyone started fist-fighting to play in church, LOL. So I never really got to the level I wanted to on drums, but I got a set now (lookout) & I hope to work up to Gerald Heywards level one day (if that is even humanly possible, LOL). So all y'all kats that can play, HELP A BROTHA OUT! lol

PRODUCTION/WRITING

PAJAM is my all-time favorite production team... I LOVE Rodney Jerkins & Warryn Campbell as well... Stylistically, i'm probably a close mix between the 3 of them. I'm constantly working to improve & perfect my craft!
