The Crimson Pirates started in 1996 at the New York Renaissance Faire
at Sterling Forest in Tuxedo, New York. The original group performed the fight/stunt show Buccaneer's Brawl and comprised current members Robin Flanagan, Don Kilcoyne, Karen O'Hara, Dan O'Driscoll and Lionel Ruland. Besides fighting over possession of a treasure map at the 'Bucket O'Blood Inn' and flying through the air "with the greatest of ease" (on a 'slide-for-life') - our multi-talented crew of singers/musicians performed song sets for patrons throughout the faire.
From that initial production at NYRF - our current crew consists of Ann Alford, Robin Flanagan, Jared Hoffert, Don Kilcoyne, Kelly Kilcoyne, Tara Dan O'Driscoll, Karen O'Hara, and Lionel Ruland. Depending on member availability and venue budget constraints - we generally perform as a group of five to eight singer/musicians.
In addition to our four CDs; The Crimson Pirates, Your Day in the Barrel, Putrid and Disgusting, and That's So Sad... our group has performed 2 off-off-broadway productions: The Crimson Pirates: Dead Men Tell No Tales!... and The Crimson Pirates 2: Born to Plunder!... as well as at a cabaret, Rose's Turn, in the heart of Greenwich Village (NYC). We've also 'invaded' weddings, a bat-mitzvah, summer camps, numerous drinking establishments and countless renaissance/medieval faires and festivals!...
