About Me



Japan is comparatively safe, and the Japanese are not aggressive, so it is easy to become complacent. However, there are rapists and murderers here, like anywhere else.

I hope this page will help raise awareness for young foreign women coming to Japan. Also I hope it can serve as a memorial for the women who have died here.May they Rest in Peace.

Personal safety

1. Do not let your defenses down. Yes, Japan is safe, but it is not 100% safe. Lock your doors. Lock your windows.

2. Abnormal behaviour is not cultural. A stalker is a stalker. Do not put everything down to "Oh, those crazy Japanese."

3. Use the "Women Only" carriages on trains. Molestation happens a lot on crowded trains.

4. Learn self-defense. Japan is home to many martial arts.

5. Listen to your instincts. If in doubt, be on the safe side.

6. Avoid giving private English lessons in someone's apartment/house. Use a coffee shop.

7. Carry pepper spray or mace. You can buy it here.

8. Enjoy your time in Japan and return safely to your homeland with many wonderful memories!
