Irish Pipes and Fiddle

About Me

Myspace Backgrounds
Pat and Karen began playing together in 2001. Since then, they have participated at hundreds of weekly irish music sessions, amassing a shared repertoire of jigs, reels, and other dance tunes common to rural Ireland.
Their music is performed on the age-old pairing of uilleann pipes, a species of bellows blown bagpipes native to Ireland, and Fiddle. The sound and range of the chanter (melody pipe) of the uilleann pipes is such that it blends well with fiddles, while its drone pipes sound a low hum in the background. The pipes also feature an array of stopped, keyed pipes called regulators that can play basic harmonies and some rhythmic accompaniment.
The music is a mixture of tunes brought to Chicago by its many Irish immigrants, who come from mostly western counties like Mayo, Sligo, Galway, and Clare.
Piobagusfidil is currently booking for Events, Ceili Dances, Parties, Concerts, and Restaurant and Pub performances. Contact us at (773) 426.8001 or piobaireagusfidil (no spamming) sbcglobal dot net for information on booking.

Influences: There have been many influences on both of us!

We're fortunate and proud to know some of Chicago's immigrant and first generation Irish musicians through our session experiences, and to them we are eternally grateful for the good tunes and good times.

These Chicago musicians play music like it matters and have taught us a lot, only some of it about music.

A extra big thank you to Sean Cleland, Jimmy Keane and Pat Finnegan for their support when we were raw beginners and how they tolerated us and encouraged our tenacity!
