About Me

Pádraig Michael Mann is a multi-instrumentalist who is perhaps best known for his mastery of the Hammered Dulcimer, and for his recordings of the same since the very early 1980s.On his albums, Mann played his own handmade hammered dulcimers as the lead instruments, then afterward played other instruments as backups, such as guitar, mandolin, tinwhistle, violin, bodhrán, and more. Some tunes are solo hammered dulcimer, while others are duets or trios. Sometimes they are accompanied by Mann on one or more other instruments to give the illusion of a full-band sound. While this may be more common today, especially with computer-based recording equipment and software which simplifies the process, it has not always been so. When Mann first began recording this way, he was doing so in his conventional studio with traditional equipment, and it was groundbreaking in folk music. He did all of the arrangements, wrote many of the songs, and played all of the instruments.Mann has played major festivals in the eastern half of the US, including Merlefest (several times), the 1982 World's Fair, and various venues in the US and Europe. He has appeared on television and radio programs countless times, both nationally and regionally. On the other hand, some of his most beloved places to play have been pubs, house parties, innumerable weddings, churches, and even several funerals and wakes.Mann retired from music as his full-time profession in the latter 1990s in order to pursue his dream of higher education. Having achieved that, (at Appalachian State University and at the graduate school of Trinity College, Dublin,) he is finally returning to the stage and is now available for bookings. Almost any type of event is open to discussion, and he looks forward to working with you to make your function all the more special.More to come... _______________________To find more information, probably more than you care to know, you can also visit my original MySpace page, also known as my "Personal MySpace" by going to the following: ~~Click Here~~ My Personal MySpace: www.myspace.com/celtmann

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: myspace.com/celtmann
Band Members:Pádraig Michael Mann, himself... However, he is open to playing with other musicians, or taking solo gigs. With groups, he would prefer to be a "side man," playing instruments such as violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, cittern, tenor banjo, waldzither, 5-string octave violin/cello, , bouzouki, bodhrán, or occasionally tinwhistle, or, if he has to, something called a hammered dulcimer. (And yes, he can also sing, if someone would be so kind as to buy him a Diet Coke first.) His favorite newest instrument is called a METRONOME!
...Wonderful!
