_____From within the depths of a world surronded by cliches and society’s profound desire for acceptance, 5 misplaced souls fought insanity to breathe life into a musical creation known as Kancerus
_____The latest project to hit the Billings area featuring Jason Fasching, who has made his mark in the Billings music scene in a big way, mainly with the band 37 CLARK which was one of the most popular bands in Billings history. Other projects included CONTAINED CHAOS and A COMMON THREAD. Also joining the fray is Josh Schleining, who has been in bands since before high school. First with the political onslaught that was SEVER THE ALLEGIANCE. A brainchild of his and Evan Joda’s, formed primarily to play a concert with the multi platinum selling band dope. He has done many other projects, the most well known being THE CHAOTICS, a hardcore/punk band that put out arguably the most offensive material ever heard in billings. The newest member is Angel Campbell, who was the drummer for DED LEVEL for three years, making some of the most brutal and complex metal music that billings has seen. The other two members are newcomers to the billings scene, Chad Dvorak and Katy Robertson. Chad has been known to rip off his shirt and join the fans in the crowd while ripping it up on his bass. His comfort on stage and compassion for the music has given him a great reputation for crowd pleasing entertainment. Katy Robertson not only has a beautiful clean voice she can throw in the heavy just as good as any man can. With a range to compliment the extreme creative power Kancerus’s music portrays, her versatility adds the perfect sound to front the band.
_____A foundation built upon 5 people’s musical creation, Kancerus was born in Novermber 2006. From there they gave birth to a destructive new wave that has for over a year taken an under-rated music scene by storm. Each show brings the support of new fans and a growing appreciation for the hard work and dedication local bands go through, just to be heard.
_____With their signature song, "Not Down", they reach out to a world most can’t accept and create a place were anyone can feel comfortable in. Every ounce of resentment, pain, confusion, discomfort and experience play a part in such songs as "Stuck in the Mud", "Pulley System", "EyeSore", "Selfish Fuck"and "King Virus". Which is proof that even in a society compelled to hide the harsh reality we live in, one bands creation can spark a musical journey of truth.
_____Driven by a hunger to keep metal alive in a world of radio-friendly conformists, they have brought a background of diversity to the table. In all, Kancerus will destroy peoples stereotypes about what can be done with heavy metal, led by Josh’s creative guitar riffs, Angels crushing beats, and all the members interest in preserving the best parts of old school metal coupled with sensibilites from all kinds of music. It’s only a matter of time before the airwaves become infected with what has become, KaNcErUs!
_____In February 2007, at their second show ever, Kancerus took 5th place in the Billings Metal Battle and released their first cd, a seven song demo recorded entirely on their own. In September of 2007, after playing with dozens of touring bands in a seventeen show span, Kancerus was nominated for best metal act in Billings in The Billings Outpost’s annual Tuney awards. The following month, they were invited to audition for the Bodog Music battle of the bands in Seattle, Washington.
_____In January 2008, soon after playing their biggest show to date with PRIMER 55 and Love Said No, Kancerus parted ways with lead guitarist Jason Fasching. They continued on as a four piece until a replacement could be found.
____ With the departure of our old guitarist Kancerus is pleased to welcome 22 year old Ben Jennings to the band as of February. New to Billings but a great addition to the band we are looking forward to creating some more brutal music with this kick ass guitarist.
