PIST was formed in 2003 with the intent of creating marketable music from influences of Heavy Metal , Death Metal , Thrash , Hardcore , Punk , and just about ALL gods of Metal we grew up listening to in the 80's and 90's ... Grinding chunkfest head bobbing beats and positive lyrics you could understand by founding members Tom Manning - Drums , Rich Muscarello - Guitar, Rob Adams - Bass , Rob McAndrews_ Vocals ...
PIST recorded their 1st. demo in the beginning of 2004 and started playing shows in April ... Handing out over 20,000 3 song demos and played over 30 shows by the end of 1st. year out ... Making a name around Illinois as a heavy slamming energetic live act showing they meant business and were here to stay ... 2005 kept going with more shows, new songs and entered the studio to start recording their 1st full CD ... Rich had to exit the band around that time due to personal reasons he had to deal with and PIST took on Chuck Battaglia to fill in and carried on putting out intense live shows like nothing had happened and really got serious with recording ... Out of 18 songs PIST decided to keep 10 of the stronger in the set and CD ...Due to money and scheduling it took toward the end of 2006 to get the CD mixed and mastered ... Recorded at Mercenery Digital Studio with Scott Creekmore and Mastered at Mastermind Productions with Trevor Sadler .
Rob Adams had to leave due to a wrist injury and PIST continued with replacements and fill ins on bass but never found a permanent ... PIST also tried out a handful of 2nd. guitarists as well ... Upon finishing the CD PIST was faced to replace Tom and did 3 more shows with him finishing off 78 shows all together making our last show on 8/19/06 ...
PIST didn't find a replacement drummer by 10/29 to opening for Deicide and canceled the 1st. show they ever had to cancel. Rob McAndrews decided to take a breather at this moment and re evaluate the situation after trucking along non stop since the end of 2003 ...
2007 PIST decided to regroup and start writing and playing shows once again with Original members Tom Manning, Rich Muscarello (Now on Bass) Rob McAndrews and Chuck Battaglia once again trying out a few guitar players that did not make the cut ... PIST Finally in Nov. of 2007 unleashed the CD "RELEASE" through Dark Star Records ... Going into 2008 we had to part ways with Chuck and played a few shows with guitar players that did not fit the bill but helped get us through a few shows ... PIST had to take off March and April due to finding NEW rehearsal space and family illness BUT has now regrouped with old friend Anthony Daniele VooDoo who helped us out in the past and are now back on track and preparing to rip it up this summer and start recording the 2nd. CD Fall/Winter 2008 ...
