About Me

Picking up the guitar at age 12 being influenced by the sounds of Funkadelic, Hendrix, Santana, & the Isley Brothers, Kerry began to take lessons. After three years of lessons he decided to learn guitar developing his ear to a lot of music that as guitar-prominent at the time. Jazz wasn't far behind and after joining his high school jazz band his jazz studies expanded. After high school, Kerry joined many local funk, pop, and tejano bands, and the latter band won a battle of the bands contest in which the grand prize was to record an album in 1988. After that he joined Kyle Turner's band and they relocate to Austin, Texas in 1990. When Turner decided to move to California in 1998, Kerry's freelancing career took off and he now has one contemporary jazz CD under his belt(The Introduction) and is about to release his sophomore project "Follow My Lead" which features piano greats Bobby Lyle and Bernard Wright, saxophonists Kyle Turner, Don Diego and Felton Turnage, and vocalists Derrick(D-Mac) McCampbell and Liz Vaughn.Kerry has opened up for such artists like Richard Elliot, Nelson Rangell, Alex Bugnon, Norman Brown, The Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, Michael Franks, Pieces Of A Dream, Jeff Lorber, Gerald Albright, Zapp, The Manhattans, and Warren Hill.
