About Me

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Joy Angele's sound is representative of the Crescent Citys unmistakable culture and artistic flair. Growing up as a preachers kid, her gospel roots are undeniable. With her grandmother as the church organist and her mother as the choir director, it was only natural for Joy Angele to gravitate towards the spotlight. At the tender age of five, Joy Angele made her singing debut at the church where her father was a minister.Throughout the years, classical vocal training and numerous performance opportunities fashioned the voice now distinctively known as that of artist Joy Angele. Influenced by such contemporary artists as Brandy, Deborah Cox, Erykah Badu and Brian McKnight, Joy Angele's vocal prowess conjures reminiscent thoughts of a time when singers really sang poignant lyrics, heartfelt delivery, and swooning harmonies all hugged up with a soulful groove. Her self-described style is reality. With a realness that is unquestionably all her own, Joy Angele's stage presence exudes energy and creativity - an exchange between herself and her audience that defies verbal description. To experience Joy Angele within a live setting is evocative of freedom freedom to enjoy and celebrate lifes heights, depths, and in-betweens. Further describing her style as fun, laid-back and filled with harmony, Joy Angele takes the listener on an acoustic journey through life -- a refreshing dose of escapism steeped in provocative reflection.Personally, Joy Angele counts artists Brian McKnight, Brandy, Tonex, India.Arie, Chrisette Michelle, Ella Fitzgerald, Prince, Patti LaBelle, Rahsaan Patterson and Andre (from Outkast) among her favorites. As a singer/songwriter, composer and arranger, Joy Angele also has aspirations of collaborating with artists Brian McKnight, Eric Benet, Jamie Foxx and Tweet in the future.Joy Angele has shared stages with artists Vashawn Mitchell, John P. With Dean James @ The Red Cat Jazz Cafe (Houston, TX) .. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light , not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.We were born to make and manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."Authors Details: Marianne Williamson
