About Me

Not because she's new to the music scene, but for many years as former lead singer of Commercial Art, and many other bands, it's time for Kamil to take the reigns. Kamil's platinum voice has mesmerized and dazzled audiences nationwide. Seeing her live is a totally enticing and emotional experience. Kamil is a true virtuoso to be compared with no one else. She's in a class all by herself with legitimate superstar qualities.
Born in greenbrier, Arkansas, Kamil became the center of attention at the age of four. During her early childhood, she began singing in church and never stopped improving her vocal talents as she grew older. Formal training for three years as a voice major at the University of Central Arkansas, along with a deep-rooted gospel foundation, mixes well and creates Kamil's distinctive style. She recorded her first hit single, "He Cares,"' at the tender age of nineteen. As lead vocalist for the Ft. Smith Arkansas Mass Choir, the song gained much radio play throughout Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma. The choir was featured on the first "Black Expo" in Houston, Texas. She also performed at the Endimion Ball in New Orleans and performed with such entertainers as Steven Segal, The Beach Boys, Fats Domino, and John Stamos, from the hit T.V. Show, "Full House."
In November of 1994, she was a contestant on, "Showtime at the Apollo" in Harlem, New York with host, Steve Harvey. She defeated the reigning champion, Houston's only singing D.J., Dana Jackson. She was honored at the Sammy Davis Jr. Awards in Houston, Texas for Best Female Pop Vocalist, portraying soulful R&B Diva Gladys Knight in the hit musical, "The Motown review." She opened up for such entertainers such as; Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Tony, Toni, Tone, Boney James, 112, Jesse Powell, Chante' Moore, The Pointer Sisters, and Cher. She also had the privilege to sing with the late great jazz singer, Betty Carter, as well as the legendary Ray Charles. In 2003, Kamil became the first winner of Houstons hit T.V. show, "Gimmie the Mike, and sang the National Anthem for the Houston Astros playoff game.
Kamil's most recent endeavors include: performing with her band at the "Stars and Stripes" Ball for the 2005 Presidential Inauguration of George W. Bush; and touring Tokyo, Japan, in the spring of the same year.
Most singers usually attempt to sing a song but Kamil has a voice like no one else, and sings a song like no one else can. Her voice will move you with grace and heart!
