FAVORITE QUOTE: Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Sounds Like: I don't sound like anyone because I am a 'DESIGNER'S ORIGINAL'....that used to bother me because my voice was so different. Then God reminded me of some of the great singers of the past and present such as Tina Turner, Etta James, Mahalia Jackson, Eartha Kitt, Annie Lennox, Dionne Warrick, Bette Midler, Celine Dion, Sarah McLaughlin, Nancy Wilson, Diana Ross, Chakha Khan, Gladys Knight, Rachel Ferrell, Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, and so many more. Not to mention singers like Jennifer Hudson, Christine Aguilera, Brittany Spears, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Rhianna, Macy Gray, Lauryn Hill, Corrine Bailey Ray, Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Melanie Daniels, and so many more who have an original sound of their own.Too many artists want to sound like other artists and I too felt so intimidated because I couldn't sing like these other great and phenomenal singers so I felt less adequate and it definitely impacted my self-esteem. BUT GOD! He was gracious enough to keep reminding me not to give up and keep going no matter what others say or think because people are always going to have an opinion. A lot of the singers I named above heard the same thing I did but the difference is they didn't give up and they kept doing what they were supposed to do and what they loved.God made me who I am to do what I do with the voice that He gave me. So, just as these legends have touched the world with the gift God gave to them, so can God use me and many others who have been held back because we don't sing / sound like what they think we should. We need to remember, that God is in control and He gave us the gift we were meant to have. It's just time for us to have the confidence to do what we do best with what God gave us!Remember: WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!"Never make someone a priority in your life when you are only an option in theirs. Relationships work best when they are balanced". 'Yesterday was history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift - that's why it's called THE PRESENT'.
