About Me
Per Mathisen, born in Sandefjord, Norway, 07.10.69. Musical education from Trondheim Jazz Conservatory and Berklee College of Music, Boston USA. Has been a freelance electric and acoustic upright bassplayer with base in Oslo, Norway, since 94. Per has performed with all the major artists in Norway including tours, TV and radio shows. Played all the major jazzfestivals in Scandinavia and performered in 22 different countries, with internationaly recognized artists like: Alex Acuna, Tery Lynne Carrington, Bill Bruford, Gary Husband, Geri Allen, Mike Stern, Jerry Donahue, Hiram Bullock, Gary Thomas, Jojo Mayer, Ralph Peterson, Adam Nussbaum, Marilyn Mazur, Antonio Sanchez, Jon Christensen, Terje Rypdal, Olga Konkova, Jan Gunnar Hoff etc. Released two solo records: "Northern Crossings" on Candid records, London, and "Unbound", on Alessa records, Austria, which he has an ongoing contract with.Is currently a member of the bands: "Sernet Ã¥ fyre", "NYNDK", "Olga Konkova Trio / Quartet", "Hans Mathisen’s New Quartet", Mona Veum B--kkelund’s Soul Incorporated", "Stringzone", "Gerald Preinfalk’s Tan go go", "Gerald Preinfalk’s Guiffre Zone", "Roy Powell’s PeakExperienceTrio", "Norske Store Big Band".
