Yorai oron is one of Israel's most prominent bass players. He has played different instruments through childhood, the guitar being the main one. He studied at the "high school of the Jerusalem academy of music" where he majored in classical guitar and graduated with excellence.
Yorai started playing the Bass guitar at the age of 16 and immediately drawn into it. He was granted scholarships from the "America Israel cultural foundation", 9 years in succession. He received a scholarship from "Berklee collage of music", studied there and graduated "Suma Cum Laude". While in Boston he also studied with Charlie Banacos. At Berklee he played at the prestigious recording band led by the great Herb Pomeroy. He played and gigged around town with musician such as Hal Crook, Phil Wilson, Greg Hopkins, Claudio Rudity and Victor Mendoza.
Yorai has accompanied many world's top visiting Jazz artists including Jeff "Tain" Watts, Sam Rivers, Dave Liebman, Kenny Warner, Lew Soloff, Frank Gambale, Dewey Redman, Ravi Coltrane, Eric Alexander, Joan brakin, Didier Lockwood, Georgie Fame and others.
Yorai preformed at international jazz festivals such as Montreux, Nice, Montreal, Ravena, Achen, Red sea, Beijing, Siena, Valladolid and others.
He has played with the "Isreli philharmonic Orchestra" and also as a soloist with the "Israeli Chamber Orchestra" in the Jazz-Classical works of maestro Yaron Gottfried.
Yorai has collaborated in numerous shows & recordings with leading Israeli artists such as legendary Aric Einstein, Gidi Gov (with him he also played on the very successful weekly TV show "Laila Gov"), Mati Caspi, Rami Kleinstein and internationally acclaimed singer song writer Noa (Achinoam Nini), with her he recorded the album "Blue" and toured world wide.
Yorai has been invited to be on the juries of the "Israel's Prime minister jazz composition award", the "Education Ministry Excellence Program", and for the "America Israel Cultural Foundation" all which award grants to outstanding musicians in the jazz music field.
He is teaching jazz studies at the Berklee affiliated "Rimon school of jazz & contemporary music" and at the "Jerusalem academy of music".
Recently Yorai founded his own band, playing his original music.
