Amir Rubinshtein Quartet

I created my own myspace layout using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!Guitarist Amir Rubinshtein was born in Israel on September 8th, 1978. There, he began his musical pursuits at age 14. Initially inspired by rock music, he played with various groups in that style along with funk and R&B bands. Gradually developing a taste for fusion and improvisational music, along with guitarists such as Alan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny and Mike Stern, Amir soon became a dedicated student of jazz. From 1998 to 2000, he attended the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel and studied with Ilan Salem, Yosi Levy and others. After two years of studies, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he studied with greats Mick Goodrick, Wayne Krantz, Larry Baione, George Garzone, Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook, Joe Lovano, and many others, and performed in numerous concerts both in school and around Boston. Upon graduating from Berklee with high honors, he continued to compose, while still finding time to play gigs and collaborate on projects. Amir’s debut CD, entitled “Isosceles”, is a compilation of his more recent compositions, and also includes one standard and a composition by a fellow band mate. Amir's unique writing and playing style balance taste and technique, and form the backbone of the material on the recording. Amir currently resides in Tenafly, New Jersey, where he teaches private lessons and plays occasional gigs.
