Be in joy. Be in pain. You'd better bend or you will brake.

About Me

You are The Sun

Happiness, Content, Joy.

The meanings for the Sun are fairly simple and consistent.

Young, healthy, new, fresh. The brain is working, things that were muddled come clear, everything falls into place, and everything seems to go your way.

The Sun is ruled by the Sun, of course. This is the light that comes after the long dark night, Apollo to the Moon's Diana. A positive card, it promises you your day in the sun. Glory, gain, triumph, pleasure, truth, success. As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully consciousness and wide awake. You have an understanding and enjoyment of science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

I'm a former fine arts major who is now thrusting forward towards an honors liberal arts: math and science associate in science degree. Well, forward may be a somewhat inaccurate term, since I feel that I may be more inclined to become immersed in the creative rather than the technical aspects of science and academia. I'm willing to do the research and other grunt work to rise a little in the ranks but my major interests include the philosophy of science, science writing and poetry (the writing of, anyway, as I'm not at all versed--no pun intended--in the literature). I'd love to make discoveries out there on the frontiers of human knowledge but I loathe the idea of trivial and monotonous scientific process. Come to think of it, I'm not, thrusting, either, seeing as I've been attending, The Rock, since 1998. Slogging is more like it. Through a bog of algebra. And I think I have a decimal stuck in my shoe. I got my fine arts degree and took off for a year and wasn't in a hurry and hadn't figured out what I wanted to do. I still don't really know. I like saying I'm thrusting forward though. It makes me feel sexy.I'm currently on sabbatical, in a bastardization of the archaic sense of the word, from my scholastics at SUNY Rockland Community College. I'm doing so, in order to work like a mad freak in order to pay for more education. I guess that's the wrong word to use but I do like saying sabbatical. It makes me feel important. I wear black you know. Im like a big sexy priest, minus the God talk and pedophilia.I Don't think Ill ever stop learning, since I'm so ignorant of so much. And I always will be learning in this vast weirdo place we call the Universe. If I ever do, Ill surely be dead. And, "being dead sucks." Ask Jeremy. Don't worry though he's better now.

My Interests

I've decided not to rape your eyes with my poetry (see my poetry blog).

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet everybody. Especially Jaid. I don't discriminate. Really getting to know you is a little more involved. Let's just say it's nothing personal. To understate it with maximum force: I can get a little hermit-ish. But I'm cavorting my way into society one thrash at a time.

Music:

I can pretty much tune myself into the enjoyment of any music given enough effort and time, though appreciating the likes of Mmm-Bop or Oops I Did it Again might require decades in a Tibetan monastery. The list of favorites is as follows: Tool, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Covenant. Where I may not be a big fan I love assorted songs from the following artists, with some only one: Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, Cypress Hill, Credence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Chevelle, White Stripes, DJ Shadow, VNV Nation, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Portishead, The Cure, Audio slave, The Pixies, The Dust Brothers, The Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin (well, I like the novelty of it anyway). I also like classical music but Im not very knowledgeable about it, for example I like Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Orff's Carmina Burana but other than that the pieces I like must go nameless. Theres so much more but this is good enough to sketch the breadth of my taste.

Movies:

Pi, The Big Labowski, Starship Troopers, Team America: World Police, Magnolia, Requiem For a Dream (A real horror movie, which I have, and will only ever have, seen once), Shaun of the Dead, Office Space, Fight Club, Forest Gump, American Beauty, Space Balls, the original Star Wars trilogy, Blade Runner, The Name of the Rose, Being John Malcovich, Being Ron Jeremy (haven't actually seen this but it made the list for its pure, however unoriginal, virtue of weirdness), Real Genius, Tron, Star trek: The Undiscovered Country, Bowling for Columbine (Hillll-airy-ass!), Fahrenheit 9/11 (Not that I think it's anything like an attempt at impartial journalism but because it is the best good-hearted, yet belligerent, propaganda film ever made), and I can go on and on but I'll add to the list later...

Television:

Though I hardly ever watch TV these are some shows I'd watch if I happen to catch them: Quantum Leap, The Daily Show, assorted stand-up comedy on comedy central, Reno 911, Howard Stern, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Deep Space Nine, The Family guy, Futurama, Fear Factor (though I hate reality television in general in it's focus on shame and disrespect, I respect the rising to challenge in dramatic ordeal in this one), History channel/Discovery/TLC shows that have nothing to do with sports, dinosaur animations, Jesus, Hitler or UFO's (ok I'd watch a special on Hitler and UFO's or Jesus and dinosaur animations, but in general I'm tired of these topics) etc.

Books:

FVCK yeah! Mostly non-fiction. The Essential David Bohm, Thomas Khun's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Daniel C. Dennett's Brainstorms, John Stewart's America: The Book (gotta love naked Justices), Essays/articles by the above authors (well, not Stewart), Larry Lauden, Arthure Fine, Hilary Putnam, Richard Boyd, Karl Popper, C.G. Jung, Sam Keen, Joseph Campbell and others. I'm currently reading The Philosophy of Science edited by Boyd, Gasper and Trout, and Ontogeny and Phylogeny by Stephen Jay Gould.
