About Me

I began playing guitar when I was around 10 years old. Although initially it was because I wanted to be like the Beatles, it became an outlet. For me, music is about expression. I was never into fame or fortune. I just wanted to express myself. So throughout the 70's I played in bands that mainly did original music. However, I quit from 1980-2000. In the mid-90's I broke my hand and it didn't heal right, so playing doesn't come as easy as it used to. But it's all by the grace of God anyway . . . . One thing I've learned is that when God allows you play well, you play well. And when he decides you don't play well, you don't play well. So if there is anything good about what any of us do (or not), it all comes from God . . . . Anyway, at the end of 2000 I bought a guitar, and from there . . . I'm here. I'm grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to be able to play again. Can't take anything for granted, since all things come from Him. Nothing is guaranteed or owed to anyone. It's all a gift from God.

Band Members: Just me: guitar (main instrument), "trying" to play keyboards; drum programming, and lame vocals here and there.
Influences: Mainly, what is melodic and has some soul to it. I like all styles of music, but I was influenced more by what was happening throughout the '60's and '70's - rock, Motown, jazz, blues, R&B, some swing and classical. Although I've listened to a lot of artists, there are only a handful that made an impact on me musically. In other words, there are certain singers, albums, groups or musicians who changed my ideas musically and led me in a different direction. They are (in no particular order): The Beatles; Donny Hathaway; Jerry Miller/Bob Mosley/Moby Grape; George Benson; Carlos Rios; Eric Clapton; Frank Zappa; Pat Martino; Boz Scaggs; Bill Champlin/Terry Haggerty and the Sons of Champlin; Brian and Carl Wilson; Stevie Wonder; Robben Ford; The Pages; Gino Vannelli; Steely Dan; Mike Finnigan; Michael McDonald. (The music I do, to me, is a combination of blues, jazz, R&B, funk....with a little classical.) Although there are many others I listen to and have listened to, these are pretty much the main people who have influenced my playing, singing and music to make me the musician I am. They are the ones who stood/stand out to me and changed my ideas, style and direction musically. .....so blame them. :-)I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
