About Me

"All of the paintings here on MY Space are either done in oils or pastels. All of these scenes are places I have traveled to. Some are plein air pieces, and some are studio works. I am captivated by landscape.... Sometimes I see a scene that just delights me and I will find myself lost in the lighting or the mood. I find myself thinking, analyzing....subtle colors, lights and darks, mood, composition. It's as if the painting is already completed, alive in my head, just like hearing a melody. What I work at, day after day, is perfecting the method and the technique to transform the painting from a vision in my head to an arrangement of color, composition, and value that I feel adequately represents what I have seen. I consider myself blessed to be able to share the way I perceive my world through my paintings. I can't describe the joy I feel everytime I sit in my studio, turn on some great jazz, and touch my paint brush to the canvas..........Life is wonderful...... "Mary Buergin received her degree in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College. She began her career working as an illustrator for an advertising agency in Buffalo. She also worked as a fashion illustrator and ran her own interior design company for ten years, doing both commercial and residential design. She focuses primarily on landscape painting in oils and pastels, and she teaches art in Manchester, NH. All of her works can be viewed at www.marybuergin.com
