TMAUSFILMS is an independent film production company based in Los Angeles, CA. - Founded by European writer/director Monique Jacobs in 2002. Tmausfilms produces short films, music videos, documentary's and feature films. "writers are often told to rather sell their scripts than to risk directing them. Actors are often typecast and not given a chance to do challenging roles" Monique says. Tmausfilms goal is to provide a workplace where not only we create a playground for our own imagination but also do give other artist a chance to do what the love to do. "If you limit someone creativity you'll only receive a piece of their craft. But if you give them them freedom to create you'll get the best of them and it will only make your end product a better piece of art." In the past we have worked with Lorenzo Leonard,Sean Wages, The Jack, Front Row, Vegas Car prod., texan rock band "not the government" - among others."Making feature films takes up so much time, from writing the script to getting the funding for a project - month sometimes pass." --------------- TMAUSFILMS ARE : ------ WRITER/DIRECTOR "MONIQUE JACOBS" If you'd meet Monique - she wouldn't be the kind of filmmaker that talks much of her work, she tends to let her work talk for itself. Neither would she be the kind young writer that socializes a lot, she's more of the quiet type of person you'd find in bookstore, in the corner of a cafe writing notes or in a movie theater catching another art house film. That's pretty much who she has been all her life- Growing up for most of her earlier days in Kufstein, a small town near the German/Austrian boarder she'd often spend her days being on one of her many runaway trips from home. "Not having a solid home" she explains. "being beaten and abused at home goes around fast in a small town. People either felt sorry for me or they said it's not really bad, while truth is any violence is wrong, special towards children" Monique often skipped school to spend hours in the Library's reading and learning about the things she wanted to know. "I read a lot of Books there that deal with things that I've been through or one of my favorite things to read was lyrics. Bob Dylan was one of my inspiration - I loved how he tells story with few words".
Sometime then she found the passion for writing and in her own words if it wasn't for the writing to be an outlet for the pain and doubts Monique would have turned to drugs like most kids that deal with violence at home. "To have been able to write what was going on in my world then was not only my way out of trouble but also the one things that gave my life a meaning". By 14, her family moved to Munich, Germany where again she often ran away from home to escape the abuse. "I honestly don't know how many time I left home - I grabbed a few things and hitchhiked around the country to find a place that I could call home - everything was better than staying" Monique had it all planned out - writing was going to be a part of her life. "It's funny when I look back and see the roads I've walked and where I ended up." she says. "When I was young I wanted to write music. I did wrote lyrics but my mother didn't allow me to learn playing an instrument. As I got older I found my place as a storyteller in movies." Music is still a huge inspiration to her and always will but having taken the path to Hollywood sure was the right thing to do. "I still write song lyrics and I've taken on learning to play guitar some time ago, I getting better the more I play" ------Monique has left Europe in 2001 to try her luck in Los Angeles and has since been working aside from tmausfilms' projects as freelance film editor, AD and DP on various productions over the years. "I work a lot, really a lot, always have 3 or 4 jobs and friends always complain that I don't have time to see them but you know this - writing, filming and the whole process of making moves is not work to me. It's what I love to do - it is so important to be able to do that one things that completes someone life simply because life is too short to spend the days thinking what if it doesn't work out.
