About Me

My biggest passion is Africa. I simply can't ignore the fact that thousands of African children die from hunger and preventable diseases each day. Every three seconds a child dies...something needs to be done.
My husband Aaron and I have started a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CaringPlace Ministries International, and we would like to help as many Ugandan children as possible.
My favorite quotes:
"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." -James 1:27
"There are standards by which we judge all events in the world and that is simply whether they are far or near." -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
"Once one has been to these challenging, terrible places they're always strangely drawn back...because there's nothing that can compare to seeing the reality of the basic human need for survival. It disgusts and inspires." -Dan Eldon
"We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty." -Mother Teresa
"If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress." -Barack Obama
You Are a Visionary Soul
You are a curious person, always in a state of awareness.
Connected to all things spiritual, you are very connected to your soul.
You are wise and bright: able to reason and be reasonable.
Occasionally, you get quite depressed and have dark feelings.
You have great vision and can be very insightful.
In fact, you are often profound in a way that surprises yourself.
Visionary souls like you can be the best type of friend.
You are intuitive, understanding, sympathetic, and a good healer.

My Interests

AFRICA! I've found my true passion in helping the poorest of the poor in Africa. Since 2006, I've been on four lengthy trips to East Africa. I've dealt with intestinal worms, sand fleas, malaria and bacterial infections. Nothing can stop me! God has put the passion in my heart--Africa is my everything! My husband Aaron and I have started a non-profit organization called CaringPlace Ministries International. Recently we've been through some challenging times. We always hoped the corruption in Africa somehow wouldn't affect us, but it has. Extreme poverty leads to desperation. Money can cause people to lose sight of what's really important in life. We helped a very poor orphanage in Central Uganda for a year, but someone took advantage of us. We know that in the short time we had, we made a huge difference in those children's lives. We understand that what happened to us was part of God's plan and we've learned so much from our mistakes. We refuse to let evil win! On our most recent trip, we met 15 street boys in Eastern Uganda who desperately want to get off the streets. We have three CaringPlace staff members on the ground feeding the boys and spending time with them on a daily basis. Our next step is to find them loving foster families. Once they have homes, they can go to school and begin to live somewhat normal lives. These boys are between 6 and 12 years old. They have been through so much--more than any child should ever have to go through. Please pray for them! Other than Africa....when I'm not working at my job (which I hate) I enjoy spending time at home reading or playing with my adorable Boston Terrier, Baxter. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going out on dates with Aaron.

I'd like to meet:

People who care about the world in which we live. And Barack Obama :).

Television:

I love The Office--It's the best show ever!!! I also like all of the CSI's (Miami is my fav), Law and Order: SVU, Chuck, Boston Legal, Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, American Idol, The Colbert Report (hilarious), Mind of Mencia and Reno 911.

Heroes:

Jesus is my ultimate hero because he died to save us. Other heroes include my dad because he is strong-willed and hard-working. And of course for obvious reasons, Mother Teresa. As profoundly stated by Mother Teresa, "There is more poverty in the United States than in any other country in the world - for it is spiritual poverty - poverty of the soul."
