[interview with Ann Curry] "I'm in a strange, I suppose, place in my life. I think that happens when you lose a parent, where you drop into a different kind of serious. And yet, at the same time, you want to laugh and enjoy as much as possible every day. I'm hanging on to my family really tight at this moment, and, because of that, trying to be as good a woman as I can be in my life. Dammit, you got me crying".

"It's alright. It's a part of life . . . I lost my mom. It's a natural thing for a child to lose a parent. I lost my mom too young, but it happened. And I'm happy she's out of pain, because I love her and she's my friend".

Appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland after her visits to Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Pakistan. [27 August 2001]

In role as goodwill ambassador, visited Tham Hin refugee camp in Thailand, May 2002, to check on conditions of 9,000 refugees from bordering Myanmar.

In 2003 was first recipient of the Citizen of the World Award from the UN's Correspondents' Association for her work as a goodwill ambassador with the UNHCR.

In 2004 was made an honorary citizen of Cambodia by the Prime Minister of Cambodia for her humanitarian work there.

In August, 2005 was made an official citizen of Cambodia by the King for her ongoing efforts to help the environment there.

The King of Cambodia has signed legal papers giving her Cambodian Citizenship (August 2005)

"My role as goodwill ambassador has made my work as a film star relatively dull. I can't find anything that interests me enough to go back to work. I'm simply not excited about anything. I'm not excited about going to a film set." (CNN International Edition 29th January, 2005)

"Save one-third, live on one-third and give away one-third".

"Love one person, take care of them until you die. You know, raise kids. Have a good life. Be a good friend. And try to be completely who you are. And figure out what you personally love. And like go after it with everything you've got no matter how much it takes."

"If you don't get out of the box you've been raised in, you won't understand how much bigger the world is."

Her adopted son, Maddox Chivan Thornton Jolie, was born on August 5th, 2001 in Cambodia.

Her adopted son, Pax Thien Jolie, born November 29, 2003, a three-year-old Vietnamese boy. Pax had lived in the Tam Binh orphanage because he was found abandoned outside a Ho Chi Minh City hospital shortly after his birth.

Her adopted daughter, Zahara Marley Jolie, was born Ethiopia on January 8th, 2005.

The adoptive and biological father of her children is Brad Pitt.

She and Brad Pitt welcomed daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt on May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa.

The government in Namibia is offering citizenship to her new daughter.

Has tattoos of the coordinates representing the locations where she adopted Maddox and Zahara on her left arm.

Angelina Jolie's: Notes from My Travels by Angelina Jolie

Review Jane Goodall, Ph.D., CBE Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace
Angelina is living proof of the power we all have -- every one of us -- to make a difference. I was deeply moved by her descriptions of individual refugees struggling to live with dignity and hope, and found her personal commitment to be an inspiration. Angelina's journals document her awakening as a humanitarian activist and I hope they will move readers to act. I look forward to my continued work with Angelina on behalf of the United Nations.

Here are her revelations of joy and warmth amid utter destitution?compelling snapshots of courageous and inspiring people for whom survival is their daily work?and candid notes from a unique pilgrimage that completely changed the actress's worldview -- and the world within herself.

Angelina Jolie visits Dylan Hartung

2005-09-17 - After a visit from Nicole Kidman last month, Dylan Hartung Angelina Jolie -- a woman he had wanted to meet since he watched Lara Croft on screen in the Tomb Raider movies in Australia last year.

On Tuesday, Dylan’s wish came through, because Angelina Jolie spent more than an hour with 6-year-old boy at Manhattan’s Ronald McDonald House and brought him some PlayStation games and gift vouchers for Toys R Us. Dylan, who’s suffering from a nerve cell cancer, reports People Magazine.

Jolie introduced herself as Angie and said, ‘I heard you are a very special boy. I’ve been eager to meet you.’ She gave him a cuddle and a kiss. He told her that she was his ultimate ‘Chickie Babe’ and she just laughed.
