About Me

LISA LANGLOIS
One of Canada's most versatile talents, North Bay, Ontario-born, Los Angeles based, actor Lisa Langlois, has career distinctions including being cast over established artists to star in the legendary French director Claude Chabrol's first English language film, has worked with stalwarts such as Donald Sutherland, David Hemmings, and Christopher Plummer, made her American stage debut at the La Jolla Playhouse and sang for the first time professionally for Quincy Jones.
Looking for a way to pay her way through University, a dance teacher suggested Langlois try out for TV commercials, which worked. She graduated Summa cum Laude with a degree from McMaster University in Hamilton where she grew up.
Lisa was subsequently discovered by the great French director Claude Chabrol (the producers wanted Jodie Foster or Sissy Spacek, Chabrol wanted Lisa) and starred in his first English language film "Blood Relatives" opposite fellow Canadian Donald Sutherland. Showing his belief in this young talent, Chabrol cast her again in a French film (Lisa speaks French fluently due to attending French elementary and high schools), "Violette Nozière" which was selected as France’s official entry at the Cannes film festival and was named by Vincent Canby in “Time Magazine” as one of the ten best films of the year.
Among others, Lisa has worked with famed director/producers John Huston, Hal Ashby, Quincy Jones and even found herself in the cult favorite "Class of 1984”. ("It was a real departure for me having always played warm, sweet ingenues"). For Neil Simon’s “The Slugger’s Wife”, Lisa made her singing debut on film. "My first singing audition in my life was in front of Quincy Jones, who produced the music for the film." Lisa subsequently sang four songs in the film.
Television highlights include Langlois being chosen as one of ABC's "Stars of Tomorrow" in the network's highly touted Talent Development Program and co-starring in "Doing Life."
After having her son, Emerson, Langlois has set her sights on resuming acting and adapting Sylvia Fraser's novel, "Pandora,” which is set in Hamilton, for the screen.
It has proven to be a busy year for Lisa in television. You can watch for her on the Lifetime channel's "The Perfect Marriage" and "Framed for Murder"; on the Sci-Fi channel's "Fire Serpent" and as recurring character in "Hank Williams' First Nation", the ABTN's series based on the award winning film.
Above all, Lisa is most proud to be appearing in the role of Marion, a mother and horse whisperer in the upcoming CBC series "Heartland", based on the children's books."
