Amoeba Music, the legendary west coast music retail outlet has announced a national tour with Verve artist Kate Walsh, featuring indie artist Quincy Coleman and Amoeba Record’s Brandi Shearer. The tour will begin May 12 in Portland , Or. and will continue across the country, ending in Denver ’s Soiled Dove on June 3.
Amoeba, known for its street smart presentation of music in its San Francisco and Los Angeles stores through CDs, videos, vinyl and live performances (including a visit by Sir Paul McCartney last year), decided to take some good music on the road across America.
The choice of headliner Kate Walsh follows in the heels of her appearances on Conan O’Brien, CBS Early Show, and other national and local media outlets. Her voice has been described by Rolling Stone as 'glass clear' while People Magazine raved that the track "Your Song" was 'painfully gorgeous'.
Quincy Coleman, who has been seen twice this year on "Last Call with Carson Daly" with a third appearance scheduled was heard in last year's Fox/Searchlight hit film Waitress. Performing Songwriter says about the singer/songwriter, "Check it out, your ears will thank you."
Brandi Shearer, the vocalist with the “strong, clear and beautiful voice” (Seattle Post-intelligencer) promises a thrilling live performance. Variety described Brandi as having “more than a touch of Janis Joplin heft…Shearer always seemed ready to cut loose and start smashing furniture.”
Walsh, Shearer and Coleman appeared together recently at SXSW to preview the tour.
Amoeba will be offering free downloads of music by Shearer, Walsh and Coleman to preview the tour at their website, Amoeba.com. Tour information will also be available.
