------------------------------------------------------Oxjam Northampton in 2008!
The Oxjam event at The Picturedrome, Northampton, was an amazing success. Organised by University Northampton Marketing students; Vicky, Helen, Laura, Jenny & Monika, they all managed to raise a massive £728.31!!! Tremendous achievement, so WELL DONE to them for coordinating this event.
The amount raised included ticket sales as well as clothes, badges, and other random things! Thanks to the extra volunteers who managed the stalls, you certainly did raise a lot there!
Brilliant night it was and the atmosphere was amazing with over 200 of you attending, many thanks to all those who took part including the bands, Half Day Closing , Second Son & Dirty Sweet , all played excellent sets and looked after well by sound engineers James Cox & Steve Wakeman.
Lots of pictures and videos was taken, so they will be up as soon as possible, bare with us, if you have Facebook go here and join the group where you will also see highlights of how it went: Lots of pictures and videos was taken, so they will be up as soon as possible, bare with us, if you have Facebook go here and join the group where you will also see highlights of how it went:
Once again, thanks to everyone for coming to this one, certainly will make a big difference for Oxfam, please remember Oxjam is still rocking the nation till the end of the month so if theres a gig near you, go support OXJAM !
Please be aware at 7min.45sec & 12min14sec may require parental guidance, nothing nudity, just a bad language we was unable to bleep out...
Many thanks again to everyone who took part, its was truly amazing this year!
Look out for the next promo video coming soon in the first quarter of 2008...which will be slightly brighter in contrast :-)
Combining all events that happened in Northampton, collectively out of the 9 events on the calender we raised about 4k. Quite an achievement by ordinary people with ordinary lives, this is awesome in my view, most of it much thanks to Elliot Bannister, super trooper who pulled off a big day on the 21st Oct. Many thanks to everyone else who got stuck in and got involved, you guys made it happen, and hopefully next year we can do twice as much.
What's Oxjam?
Along with many other individuals
around the country we were holding a number of music events to help raise money
for the charity organisation Oxfam. Called "Oxjam", the aim was to successfully
promote and run a massive amount of events like no other. It was like no other,
I feel we succeeded, we helped alot of poeple! We have started the Oxjam Northampton
organization, which is designed to network with dozens more around the country.
Already we have worked with some
of the best promoters in Northampton as well as musicians. To make next year
even bigger, we want to recruit more individuals to help out. There so much
planning to do and so much experience to gain. Already we have inspired people
to do more and have given a boost of confidence that the skys the limit, anythings
possible. The Oxjam Northampton calender was filled with many events reflecting
the current music scene, therefore we showcased some of the best indie, rock
and alternative music.
What’s it all for?
Oxjam is about raising money to fight
poverty all over the world. You’ll be helping people to earn a living; to get
an education; health care; fresh water; to grow more food..... The message
from Oxjam is simple:....
MAKE MUSIC ~ RAISE MONEY
END POVERTY
