My Interests

Want to use this opportunity to promote sistah' Kai and her babies - one of Terryhowcott.com's "Broad and Black" families - as she has authored a new book.Click below, and check out "Discover Kai" and her great writings -

One important interest of mine, is that it is CRUCIAL that the 14 year old Shaquanda Cotton be released from prison in Texas IMMEDIATELY if not sooner .

I'd like to meet:

OR WISH I COULD HAVE MET:If I could go back in time, I would like to meet Imhotep. I would ask Harriet Tubman a million questions, and also Huey P. Newton.

I don't wish to meet too many folk who are alive cuz I ain't star struck like that. I had mentioned a few names earlier, but was quickly reminded of why I even wouldn't want to meet those few folk. The knowledge and gifts I've received have been from complete unknowns - so I'd like to meet more people whose names few if any people recognize.

Honorable mention to Assata Shakur. I believe she is a fountain of awareness - and I'd just like a thimbleful.

I do wish I could meet all the couples and families and folk who have graciously entrusted their couple and family photos at TERRYHOWCOTT.COM . I think so highly of their willingness to commit their image to this endeavor.

I wish I could meet every single artist, photographer and writer all of whose gifts to TERRYHOWCOTT.COM have been like nuggets of love toward this online experience. The work it took to locate them, our discussions in the process - all of it was an amazing experience.

The Honorable Robert Williams visited our home when I was a child - or youth age. I wish I could've had the chance to talk with him in depth - but only if I were old and mature enough a soul to know the landscape and what questions to ask.

I wish I could be present at a historic Black Panther Party meeting. I wish I could know the future, and warn Fred Hampton Sr. of the imminent danger

I wish I could have met 15 year old Sakia Gunn, a Black Same Gender Loving sistah' youth - murdered in the streets of New Jersey for stating emphatically who she had the right to be . . . which was herself. I would give her the biggest hug, and honor her that she might know she left here my hero.

I would have loved to have chatted with Tupac Shakur - praising him for his work and powerful voice, but laying him out for his virulent misogyny and degradation of girls to women.

I would like to meet George W. Bush and sock him so hard that even the secret service would pause and reflect before leaping to his aid.

I would like to meet our ancestors from the Middle Passage and the system of slavery and speak their language, and know even more than I think I already know of the particulars of what they endured - that I might pass still more of it on.

I would like to have known my Great Grandmother who we now know was full-blooded Cherokee, and the folk in my family whose land was snatched - all but stolen from them in Virgina.

I meet face to face with Audre Lorde through her writings. But, I would love to talk with her adult children and hear stories of their remembrances. There are many more.
