About Me

Greetings! Do I need to introduce myself? Well, I'm a longtime, fulltime author...which means I don't get a lot of sleep, but I do get to work in my bathrobe and slippers, so it all evens out in a way. ;-) I currently write for Amber Quill Press and their imprint, Amber Heat, and work in a variety of genres. You'll find my "statement of purpose" a little farther down the page....

A must read!" by Karen Michelle Nutt, for PNR ~~~ "Sherwood Charade is an absolutely intriguing twist on the old Robin Hood classic. You will find in Sherwood Charade a well-written story with exceptional characters bringing their colorful personalities to the forefront. It captures your attention from the beginning. Twists and turns keep you hanging on until the last word. Ms. Riser sends you on a thrilling mind vacation that you will not soon forget. I highly recommend this new read by Ms. Riser." by Matilda for CTR ~~~ "Marian proves to be just as feisty as the best versions of her namesake. She's no diminutive Marian, Madam Librarian, but a lady who can handle herself in any era. Her story shines against a rich, vivid background of the long ago... This proves that a book can be both fun and have a touch of an epic sweep, all at once." by Amanda Killgore for Huntress Reviews & The Eternal Night UK ~~~~~~~~~ ~*~

I was an odd child, and I never outgrew it. This comes across as pretty obvious in the books I write today. I do comedy because that's the way my mind works, but my stories aren't exactly fluff. You'll find dark threads woven among the light, and universal themes underlying it all. I mix genres, push boundaries, and entangle my characters in outrageous scenarios and twisted plots--but somehow they always manage to fight their way free to happiness by the end. And they often surprise me by how they do it. I laugh and cry and learn with them on their journeys, and I love them all--even the villains (sometimes especially the villains). But I can't make it easy for them, or they'd miss their chance to surpass their own limits and become heroes. I weave tales not just to entertain, but also to inspire. I believe in laughter and love, heroism and happy endings, so that's what I write. You can learn more about me and my writing at: MimiRiser.com and MimiRiser-WordWitch . Thanks for visiting!
