It's all about the books. Below is a working prototype of one of the creatures in my story, sketched by Jim O'Connell, of Resource Media Inc.Jim and I are sharing ideas back and forth. Here is one of my origionals- capturing the face of evil- which in this story includes men and beasts. And two are my reinterpretations of Jims work- which I will send back to him to get closer to the final editions that he will do- which I hope will be poster quality. The last set is an attempt to portray a scene. This was taken in a friend's gardenWhat do you see when you look at a picture? Do you see a story? What do you see when you read a story? Do you see a picture?- What a gift the imagination is. My music, art, poems, and photos are some of the ways I express my heart. The greatest tales take us away from phones and televisions, and they bring us to timeless worlds where anything is possible. Our hearts know there's so much more to life than computer chips. And we find a sense of purpose and wholeness when we go to those places that remind us there is so much more to our lives than existing! If you think you can figure me out by a snapshot and a label, you're mistaken. I'm complex. I used this field because it was full of depth. Behind every blade of tall grass or past every hill, there is a mystery. Hopefully the picture is interesting enough so that some might want to see what else is there???I love playing guitar, taking landscape photos and doing all things creative. My goal is to blend art, photography, and music to make artistic statements that touch hearts in a positive way.We need to have dreams forever before us; goals of what we'd like to see unfold, the impact we'd like to have in this world. My dreams vary. I'm a people person, and love connecting on a deep level. Poetry enables me to express thoughts. Photographs become the canvas, and Art becomes the frame.
If you're a shallow person with no common interests, a personality like a doormat, and you think I'm no better than a wirey weasel, then welcome. If you don't spam me, spit on me, leave your dirty socks, or send me your dirty pictures, I don't mind you visiting. However, I really enjoy deep thinkers, people with a conscience, giving people, and creative minds that fashion beauty and share it.
Love classic rock. I respect Keith Urban, David Gilmore, and many writers who can play a mean guitar, but also combine them with thought provoking lyrics. I grew up a Beatles fan because they layered beauty, imbedding subtle shades in their music, things you might not catch at first. When I first picked up a guitar I was horrible. It seemed a mountain, filled with jagged peaks that I could never climb. Slowly, it became an extension of my arm. I was never able to adequately transpose other people's music. Perhaps this musical form of dyslexia was a gift cloaked as a disadvantage, because it turned me towards writing and creating.Eric Clapton's Bell Bottom Blues captures the essence of human desire. Not all desire is good, and he desired something that almost destroyed one of his closest friendships. Yet, we need passion in our lives, to believe in something so much we have to sing, write, draw, or do something to express it. The music from that era in Clapton's life was the most riviting because, despite coming from a motivation that was not one I'd want, it came from deep within the heart. At times in life we walk alone. The way seems dark, and we're left wondering if we've lost our way. Fear not what lies ahead. Do not be paralized and stop short of finding that refuge you've always dreamed of. We are never alone, regardless of how things seem and how we feel. A great host has travelled this same road before us and will follow behind. If we are fortunate, we'll leave a permanent mark, one that makes another's journey easier and more worth the taking.
RTB Rocks!!! Lord of the Rings and the first two X-men movies were incredible. Love romantic comedies- Sleepless in Seatle, While you were sleeping, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks together...etc. I loved Gladiator, Braveheart and the Patriot a great deal except I'm not a fan of lots of blood, and would have preferred a bit more of a PG version. LOTR was great on many levels, artistic, and the loyalty and bravery. Here is a photo that I edited to give an Apocalyptic Feel. I've placed text over it for a book project.
Reality TV- to a point. I prefer the wonders of nature. This photograph of the Sky Crying was taken the day of a nasty flood. Obviously, I didn't realize it would flood or I wouldn't have been standing by a river taking pictures. Shortly after reaching home, the floodwaters were nearing our front door and we ended up fleeing out of the wet frying pan into the wet fire. It was an Indiana Jones type adventure, and a miracle our vehicle didn't get washed away. We even crossed a bridge that was closed, with water splashing over the side like a getty in an ocean storm. I thanked God profusely for protecting us!
Everything J.R.R Tolkien wrote. I like G.P Taylor's quirky stories. Speaking of Tolkien. This photo I took is five minutes away from where I live. On this day, I picture a wanderer in Middle Earth gazing at Mt Doom in the distance. Some can't understand the value of fantasy, but Tolkien wrote how the greatest fantasy is but a mirror of the greatest reality. Hope prevails, our faithfulness is rewarded, and love wins in the end.
Come visit my backyardMy puppy wants to play- yes she's a mini, and yes, those are big sneakers! My friend's little retreat is one place where story ideas are born. "I think I'm ready for another adventure!"Most times I don't start with an image in mind, just odd colors which I blend and manipulate, and after a time I look for the picture within. - sort of like looking at passing clouds and what pictures you see in them. I call this art-man- a twisted artist sitting atop a 3D canvas blending colors.
