The Maggots

It's the Greatest!

About Me

The Maggots started out in '98 after a drunken night - it was one of those thousand times when a coupla buddies said "Let's start a real garage punk band!". In this case it was Måns P. Månsson and Jens Lindberg who got drunk and were missing a band that worked in the same direction as their old garage band The Crimson Shadows did during a coupla turbulent years in the mid 80's. After a short stint with Ragnar "Krusherkarlsen" Sjören on additional vocals, and Max Fredriksson on drums, The Maggots took a break. After a while Jens and Måns enlisted Anders Öberg to play the drums instead. With this line-up the first EP and five 45's were recorded. When the time came to record the first album both Jens and Anders realized that families and careers took too much time for them so they both quit on friendly terms, leaving Måns to take care of business. He quickly enlisted Jonas Lundberg (ex Slammers, A-Bombs) to play drums, and Stefan Hellström (ex many bands, including Thee Wylde Mammoths, Freinds, Highway Slugs...) to play bass. The first album "Get Hooked!", came out on Low Impact and after that followed much gigging and touring. Album ..2, "This Condition Is Incurable", came out on Bad Afro and that was followed by "Do The Maggot!" - once again on Low Impact. After a few years in the band Stefan got tired of the rock'n'roll lifestyle including tuff tours, late nights and all that comes with it - so the band decided together that a new bass player should be tried out. This was Tomas Holm (ex A-Bombs) who fit right in! His first task was to learn a whole buncha Lyres songs (not the easiest thing in the world!) as The Maggots were backing up Jeff Conolly in Stockholm only a coupla months after he started playing with the band. The show was a success in every way and after that The Maggots quickly started working on a new album. The band decided to add a Farfisa player to for the new album - both to develop the sound and also to get back closer to the garage roots again. On the album the Farfisa is played by Jens Lagergren (also in Thunder Express, Hello Saferide) but due to his grueling schedule The Maggots have taken in Nicke Öhman (also in Dee Rangers) playing the Farfisa instead. The Maggots are slowly but surely becoming a garage punk institution in Sweden, and are working hard to invade Europe and the rest of the world with their tuff big beat garage rock'n'roll with roots firmly planted in the soil of 60's garage and 50's rock'n'roll!
