(1953 - 1982) Keith Green came from a Jewish background in Sheepshead Bay NY. At the age of eleven, Green became the youngest person ever to sign with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) when he published, recorded and released the song "The Way I Used to Be". He ran away from home as a teenager, looking for musical fame and spiritual enlightenment in the late 1960's. He was converted to Christ at the age of 21, married Melody and they immediately began taking troubled people off the streets and into their home. They would eventually go on to found Last Days Ministries and transform a Texas ranch into a school of discipleship and evangelism. Green was a talented and serious songwriter/performer, eventually playing in large venues. He shocked the Christian culture and music business in the 80's, when he began offering his recordings for free or "whatever you can afford." On July 28, 1982, Keith and his three year old son Josiah, his two year old daughter, Bethany, and ministry friends were killed in a small plane crash. Melody was home with their daughter Rebekah and was pregnant with their fourth child, Rachel. Melody wrote a biography about her husband Keith, No Compromise.
