Isle of Thieves

Isle of Thieves is a blend of energetic rhythm, textural riffs, driving power chords, memorable synth leads, and vocal melodies that are no less than infectious. This eclectic five-piece strives to exhibit the delicate balance between innovation and familiarity, youthful energy and lyrical maturity.
In June 2005, a chance meeting brought Japeth and Matt Coatsworth in a hardware store in Toronto. As the primary singer/songwriter, Japeth's collaborations with Matt grew to include keyboardist, Justin Kwan. After some member changes and a brief hiatus, Isle of Thieves formed as the 5-piece it is today in May 2006 with the additions of lead guitarist, Mike Marsh and bassist, Charles Canovas. The band hooked up with Producer/Engineer Mike Langford (Evans Blue) early in the summer of 2006 to record a demo through Pocket Studios, and ended up developing a working relationship to write a full-length album. The recordings are now complete with mastering done by Joao Carvallho (Billy Talent, Sam Roberts, Alexisonfire).
Isle of Thieves continues to build momentum, establishing a following of dedicated fans in the Toronto area. Originally, the band booked through local Toronto promoters, playing in venues such as the Reverb, the Horseshoe Tavern, Lee's Palace, Jeff Healey's Roadhouse, and the Kathedral. With the band solidifying their position in the Toronto music scene, they have been booking and promoting their own shows alongside other up-and-coming bands in the area. Expansion outside of the Toronto music scene is the quintet's next endeavour. Currently, the band is seeking distribution for their upcoming album "Only Human", as well as exploring more opportunities to expand their growing fan base.
