SPELLCRAFT - [3rd new sample up]

Do you enjoy listening to music that is melancholic, melodic, aggressive and powerful at the same time? If yes, well SPELLCRAFT is your favourite band definitely! The band was formed back in 1999, starting from gothic metal territories and then making a breathtaking mixture of alternative, dark, indie-rock and metal along the years. They recorded their first cd Faded in 2000, which was eagerly appreciated in the underground scene due to its gothic-death mood, despite the quite embarrassing audio quality. In the year 2002, after some line-up changes, its time for the Tears Like Rain EP, which shows a band in the process of turning to a more melodic groove. This EP was enthusiasticly reviewed on plenty of magazines and allowed the band becoming more popular and touring extensively across the nation. After 4 years of playing shows, writing new songs and facing the usual problems when it comes to dealing with labels, the band turned up their trousers and decided to keep going DIY and then release the new songs on their own. This decision resulted into Do It Yourself Vol. 1 which was released in 2006. This EP is a sort of collection that will have a sequel until they get a serious deal at the least. This cd was entirely recorded by the band, investing their obviously quite small budget into gear and all the stuff. The sound of course is not the best compared to most of the recent releases from big bands, but we think its rad if you consider its their first try in the DIY experience. What springs out of this record is the bands perseverance and not daddys bank account. Here you can find a bunch of songs from 2002 to 2005, all of them already tested alive.
Current Spellcraft line-up is: Gino Chiarizia//voice-guitar, Michele De Carlo//guitar, Stefano Di Brisco//bass and Enrico Tiberi//drums-samples. Former bassist Luca Rossi has left the band due to lack of interest in pursuiting the bands musical endeavours.
Second chapter (Do It Yourself Vol.2) is already in the works and we can tell you in advance its quite good already, so stay tuned!

Ti piacciono sonorità malinconiche, aggressive, melodiche e d’impatto? Se sì, gli SPELLCRAFT fanno al caso tuo! La band proveniente da L’Aquila si è formata nel 1999 partendo da lidi prettamente goth metal per approdare poi verso ideali mix di alternative, dark, indie e metal. Nel 2000 registrano e pubblicano il loro primo demo “Faded”, ben accolto dalla critica underground per il suo mood gothic-death nonostante la qualità audio alquanto imbarazzante. Nel 2002 è la volta di “Tears Like Rain” che oltre ad un cambio di line-up, segna una svolta melodica. Il mini-cd, ottimamente accolto dai magazine specializzati e non, funge da ottimo battistrada permettendo alla band di far circolare notevolmente il proprio nome e soprattutto di suonare in giro per l’Italia. Dopo quattro anni passati a suonare, scrivere canzoni nuove e veder sfumare via possibilità di contratti discografici purtroppo poco promettenti, la band si rimbocca le maniche e decide di affrontare in maniera personale la ripresa e la pubblicazione delle nuove canzoni. E’ così che nel 2006 esce “Do It Yourself Vol.1” ossia il primo capitolo della saga dell’autoproduzione. Si tratta di una sorta di collana che avrà seguito fino alla firma di un serio contratto discografico. Il mini-cd è stato interamente registrato dalla band, investendo le piccole forze economiche disponibili in strumentazione e personale utilizzo della stessa. Consapevoli che il sound non è all’altezza delle attuali produzioni discografiche dei più grandi gruppi, la band ritiene comunque che per essere il primo tentativo in assoluto, possa andare più che bene. Qua è vincente la tenacia e la determinazione e non il portafoglio ed il conto in banca di papà. Nel disco potrai ascoltare una manciata di canzoni che vanno dal 2002 al 2005, tutte già testate on-stage. La line-up attuale è composta da Gino Chiarizia//voce-chitarra, Michele De Carlo//chitarra, Stefano Di Brisco//basso ed Enrico Tiberi//batteria-samples. E’ comunque già in lavorazione il secondo capitolo, “Do It Yourself Vol.2”, che si preannuncia accattivante e promettente, con un’evoluzione stilistica spiazzante e con un sound decisamente migliore, quindi rimanete sintonizzati!
