Quite simply, DrivingOnCitySidewalks was formed out of a genuine love for music. Barry started
recording music in his basement about a year and a half ago. Seeing as how he played drums,
and guitar it seemed like it only made sense to lay down music tracks, and build songs from those
sessions. Luckily enough the small indie label Red Plane Records from France stumbled upon the
Canadians music on MySpace, and from that point on, a friendship was struck, and DrivingOnCitySidewalks
released the song "To Finish the Race" on the Red Plane Records Volume 3 Compilation CD.
After this point, early in 2007, Red Plane asked if DrivingOnCitySidewalks would release a limited run EP
through them. Which is where Darryl comes on the scene. Darryl and Barry have been friends for a while
jamming together years ago. Nothing really came of that though, as Darryl went away to school, and Barry
started his family with his wife. Fast forward 7 years, and Darryl is finished school, Barry has three wonderful
kids with his amazing wife, and the two have teamed up again under DrivingOnCitySidewalks.
The debut EP will be out February 2008 and it will be co-released under Red Plane Records in France, and Count Your lucky Stars records in USA/Canada. CYLS was started in 2008 by the amazing Michigan band empire! empire! (i was a lonely estate). e!e! and DOCS have had a friendship for over a year now, and we're totally amazed that they asked us to be a part of what they're starting.
