About Me

Kn@ppster's animal magnetism has utterly captivated millions. No, wait ... that was someone else's animal magnetism. Kn@ppster's animal magnetism has pretty much just proven itself a minor nuisance to dozens -- but ya gotta start somewhere, right?

My Interests

In no particular order: Politics, bourbon, sex and trying to take over the world

I'd like to meet:

Michael Stipe. Yeah, that would be cool. And María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza de Rasten . And that guy on the old FedEx commercials who talked really fast. Oh, and you. Bring beer.

Myspace layouts

Music:

The Royal Nonesuch (the real, tragically defunct one from Springfield, Missouri, not that New York synth pop outfit), Tom Petty, Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators, REM, the Stones circa Brian Jones, the Dead, Dwight Yoakam, The Tragically Hip. Aw, hell ... I won't say I like everything (this means you, Justin Timberlake), but I can usally live with whatever I'm hearing.

Movies:

Apocalypse Now, Tombstone, Reds, V for Vendetta, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lard of the Rangs, Serenity, all that Matrix mess, etc.

Television:

I occasionally fall off the wagon and watch ER, but mostly it just sits on The Cartoon Network for the kids unless I commandeer it and watch the news or The History Channel. I liked X Files, it went away. I liked Buffy, it went away. I missed Firefly but I guess I'll rent it on DVD, since the movie was really good, but I've trying not to get too attached to TV shows ever since the bastards offed Twin Peaks. On the 'toon side, I like Family Guy and wish that Sealab 2021 had won an Emmy or three.

Books:

Just finished Middle America by Anthony F. Lewis; before that, F. Paul Wilson's Harbingers . If I tried to list everything I liked, we'd be here all day, but I'll plug in stuff now and again.

Heroes:

Karen Scarborough, Peter McWilliams, Tamara Millay, Bob Dobbs, Hunter S. Thompson, Nestor Makhno, Ernest Hemingway, Saul Alinsky, Heather Scott, Jim Lark, Bumper Hornberger ...

Pickin' and grinnin'

[reposted from my "real" blog]If you're a gambler, don't bet the ranch on my election predictions. I'm not, to put it daintily, the most accurate political prognosticator. But I make my calls every el...

First Look 2008: Series End

[Note: This entry is a repost from my main blog, Kn@ppster]I doubt that my endorsement carries a great deal of weight, and to the extent that it carries any at all, it would be silly to assume that th...

My MySpace Strategy

Yes, I admit it ... I didn't, um, get MySpace at first. As a new friend of mine (meatspace AND MySpace) points out, it really seems to be just a big concatenation of profiles. And as I'll point out m...

Tilting at Windmills: The Corruption of the Law

I've been slowly moving a lot of old material from a semi-defunct archive at Freeservers to my "real" blog as "Blasts From The Past." Might as well spread it around a bit. I'm going to use this blog s...

No, I don't blog here ...

... I'm pretty much married to my existing blog over at Blogger. I may repost here on occasion, or not. Right now, I'm just fiddling around. Guess I'll fill out all that "what I'm listening to and wha...
