The Royal Nonesuch (the real, tragically defunct one from Springfield, Missouri, not that New York synth pop outfit), Tom Petty, Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators, REM, the Stones circa Brian Jones, the Dead, Dwight Yoakam, The Tragically Hip. Aw, hell ... I won't say I like everything (this means you, Justin Timberlake), but I can usally live with whatever I'm hearing.
Apocalypse Now, Tombstone, Reds, V for Vendetta, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lard of the Rangs, Serenity, all that Matrix mess, etc.
I occasionally fall off the wagon and watch ER, but mostly it just sits on The Cartoon Network for the kids unless I commandeer it and watch the news or The History Channel. I liked X Files, it went away. I liked Buffy, it went away. I missed Firefly but I guess I'll rent it on DVD, since the movie was really good, but I've trying not to get too attached to TV shows ever since the bastards offed Twin Peaks. On the 'toon side, I like Family Guy and wish that Sealab 2021 had won an Emmy or three.
Just finished Middle America by Anthony F. Lewis; before that, F. Paul Wilson's Harbingers . If I tried to list everything I liked, we'd be here all day, but I'll plug in stuff now and again.
Karen Scarborough, Peter McWilliams, Tamara Millay, Bob Dobbs, Hunter S. Thompson, Nestor Makhno, Ernest Hemingway, Saul Alinsky, Heather Scott, Jim Lark, Bumper Hornberger ...
