Mike (LD-MO)

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I believe a person should be able to do whatever they want so long as they do not infringe upon the rights or property of someone else.In 1982 I lost a race for St. Joseph (MO) City Council. In 1988 I defeated the incumbent Councilman in Clarksdale MO (Pop. 352) for a two-year term. I lost reelection by three votes in 1990 after opposing a tax increase for a bond proposal. In 2006 I defeated a two-term incumbent to win a four-year term on the St. Joseph (Pop. 74,000) City Council. I have tried to present my libertarian views in a non-confrontational and friendly way, and have been able to win some votes on keeping taxes low and reducing regulations.I am a Libertarian-Democrat and endorse Sen. Mike Gravel for the Libertarian Party's presidential nomination. I am a Delegate to the Denver Convention and hope to make it happen. I have known Congressman Ron Paul for 21 years and have also assisted the Paul Campaign. I think principles are more important than politics.

My Interests

I'm organizing a new group, the Libertarian Democratic Caucus. We will lobby for libertarian policy within the Democratic Party like the Republican Liberty Caucus does in the GOP. I am dedicated to the libertarian philosophy of freedom and support working with like-minded libertarians be they members of the Libertarian Party, Democratic, Republican, Constitution or Green Parties. My Space group can be found at: http://groups.myspace.com/LDC2006 Also visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/libertariandemocrats/ and http://www.facebook.com/group.php?=2265391392&ref=mf Will you help?
