About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorGoing to school in New Orleans has really given me a first hand look at the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Such an unprecedented disaster came, it went, and with it it took lives, homes, families, jobs, and memories.
I believe that we are a force who, united as one, has the power to create change. Thanks for yall's support and for visiting! I hope to provide a community where people can have access to upcoming events, motivational stories, basically where people who love to help out can come together on one site. Although this site is focused mainly on katrina, please feel free to email me with any community events you know of and any photos, stories, or experiences you want to share so I can add them!

My Interests

The Kellogg Foundation's Mid South Delta Initiative (www.msdi.org) is launching a new project to design new futures for the Delta Region (including Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi). As part of the project, MSDI is forming three design teams (one for each of the following topics: grassroots organizations, leadership development, and youth development). We want people of all races, age groups, and socio-economic status to participate in these groups, and MSDI is will to pay participants $300 plus travel expenses to attend each meeting. We are having trouble getting the word out (particularly to young people) about this opportunity. We're looking for people aged 15 and up who live in the Delta Region. There is an online application available at www.msdi.org/LiftingUpTheDelta. The application deadline is July 3, 2006.

Sarah Miller says:I live and work as a volunteer with the Youth With A Mission missions base in Maringá, Brasil (international Christian organization) ..... YWAM actually has thousands of bases worldwide in more than 160 countries. We are open to individuals or groups coming here to spend anywhere from a few days to (normally) around 10-14 days.... I´m the international contact for our base and one of the few Americans at the moment....if there is anytime you think that you might want to come visit, volunteer for some time, bring a team, group....we are a Christian organization, but honestly have non-Christian groups (for ex in 2 weeks a public high school boys football team arrives for 10 days) coming. email: [email protected]
