About Me

Hey All!My name is Rachel. I recently graduated from a small all girls' school in New Orleans called Louise S. McGehee school. After this year I came to some new realizations. I wish that it hadn't of taken a hurricane to make me realize them but in a strange turn of events I'm glad they did. I came to realize several things. One, the education I recieved these past four years have has been invaluable and something I believe I took for granted. An education, especially for girls in some of the poorest countries, can be life saving. As well, it is a human right in accordance with the UN. ONE is out to provide education in poverty situations that is a critical tool in the fight against poverty and AIDS. And that I believe, we, as one can help make awareness about. Another realization that I came to this year, through exploring the ONE website and reading some of their blogs, is that everyone in America and internationally can help to end poverty and AIDS. But, it is our generation, as students, that will be the future America. And as the future we can, right now, play a critical role with the rest of America in this fight. A blog response to a sixteen year old advocating for ONE read as followed to our age group helping with ONE:"I have great hope that the people in your age group have a much broader world view than generations before, and you're right as they enter the world and become voters and holders of public office the issues that matter most to their heart will drive their actions. "- Jennifer BrimThis quote really inspired me and I hope inspires you too! I too have faith in our generation to not only act in the future but to act NOW as well. So let's do it. Let's get organized. And let's all join ONE as a generation to fight against AIDS and poverty.Visit my website at: http://www.geocities.com/rlom87/ONE.htmlThanks!
