Africville is an important part of Canada’s history. Watch these clips. They are about Africville, a former black community in Canada. Basically, tax paying citizens were denied services like garbage pickup, heat and water in an effort to destroy a predominantley black community. It’s stuff I learned at home as a child ’cause we weren’t taught this in school. This is the REAL TRUTH about how Canada treated and still reagrds blacks. There is a basic dismissal of racism against Afro-Canadians in this country. We had slavery starting from the 1620’s and there’s more history like this, but folks who write the books would rather ignore us. It interferes with the image of a "perfect" country. Anyway, here’s more on Africville
