Olive's Brain - Internet Radio for Independent Musicians

About Me

I’m just a regular guy. I work for a software company and wish I was doing something else that was more rewarding. I’m a single father of a fabulous little girl and I have a fantastic girlfriend. I like to do a little amateur wood working, tinker on my old crappy cars and cook bbq’d ribs. A cold beer enhances all of those activities. All in all, life is pretty good.

My Interests

Music of all genres with a particular soft spot for Canadian Indie music. Art. Picture frame making. Cooking. Eating. Beer.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Well, John Hiatt is my all time favorite songwriter and performer. To say I’m a huge fan would be quite an understatement. I’m going to see him in July. It’ll be my first time seeing him live and I can hardly wait. After that it gets harder to pick out favorites…there’s so many. I really like Drive-By Truckers, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, The North Mississippi All Stars, Son Volt, Wilco, Blue Rodeo, Matt Mays, The Tragically Hip and Johnny Cash. The list goes on and on.

Movies:

The best movie ever has to be Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood. The Outlaw Jose Wales, Pale Rider, The Good The Bad and The Ugly are right up there too. The Long Riders, Scar Face, The God Father, The Exorcist, Apocalypse Now, and all the Dirty Harry movies are ones I can watch over and over. Office Space, Spinal Tap, Fubar and Drop Dead Gorgeous still make me laugh every time I see them.

Television:

Outside of Hockey Night in Canada and some of the freak show stuff on the Discovery and National Geographic channels, tv pretty much sucks.

Books:

For fiction you can't beat a John LeCarre novel. History, wood working and cooking books get a lot of eye time too. I wish I could finish Moby Dick someday...my personal white whale.
