A brief history....
The Jamdown group consists of the management division Jamdown Ltd., publishing company Abood Music Ltd. and the record label Jamdown UK.
With over 50 UK top 40 hits to date, and an ever-increasing US presence, Jamdown has firmly established a solid foundation of hit artists, writers and producers.
The current Jamdown management roster urban singer Smujji, who sold over 100.000 albums worldwide and whose new album has just been released by EMI in Japan, as well as the producers Rich Drury and Deewaan.
Recent Jamdown successes include the world-wide multi-platinum hit “Hey Baby†by No Doubt and Bounty Killer, Emma Bunton’s UK number 1 “What took you so longâ€, songs on Aaron Carter’s 3 million selling debut and songs on albums including Kylie Minogue, Sugababes, S Club 7, Freestylers, Wu Tang Clan and DJ Quik.
The publishing division Abood Music represents a fast-growing catalogue which contains a large number of urban, reggae and dancehall titles (about 3,000 songs of which over 2,000 are already released) and a serious number of hits on both sides of the Atlantic including tracks by Sean Paul, 2Pac, Lil Jon, Twista, Shaggy, Damian Marley, Nina Sky, Fat Joe, Lil' Kim, Elephant Man and many more.
On the reggae side, Abood has signed a large number of top Jamaican artists and producers including Cordel ‘Scatta’ Burrell (one of the top producers of JA and maker of the Coolie Dance), Bounty Killer, top dancehall & ragga producers 'Computer' Paul Henton and Jazzwad, dancehall group Ward 21, new dancehall superstars Tony Matterhorn and Aidonia and a large amount of young upcoming writers, artists and producers.
After an extremely successful 2004 with 4 billboard hits, including the ASCAP-award winning worldwide top-5 hit 'Move Ya Body', Abood Music set up a worldwide network of sub-publishers.
UK successes include Top 10 hits by 2play (So Confused & It Can’t be Right), So Solid Crew, Sean Paul, FYA among others. In the US, Abood has major releases on all major labels and nearly all the key independents. In the past two years Abood CEO Othman Mukhlis has received 3 different ASCAP awards for most global airplay.
Recent successes include tracks on the gold and platinum certified albums of T.I. (King) Sean Paul (The Trinity, including the single "We Be Burnin'") Damian Marley (Welcome To Jamrock), the title track on Tupac’s No.1 album "Loyal to the Game", the FIFA-World-Cup single "Dance" by Lumidee and Fatman Scoop, international dancehall superhit "Dutty Wine" by Tony Matterhorn among many others.
With over 200.000 sold albums and licenses in over 15 countries, Jamdown has successfully launched its record label Jamdown UK. The catalogue bosts albums of the acts FYA, Smujji, Suncycle and M.B.C. among others, currently in the pipeline are the new album by Smujji, albums by dancehall group Ward 21 and legendary trombonist Rico Rodriguez as well as the new concept series Sounclash featuring clashes between the biggest Jamaican artists and producers.
