Ladyfest Bournemouth was part of Oxfam's 'Oxjam 2006' campaign - Oxfam's biggest and most ambitious music festival to date. It took place between the 26th and the 29th October '06, and was extremely successful!
To date, Ladyfest has raised £2000 for Oxfam!
We are using this money to purchase the following items through the Oxfam Unwrapped Catalogue:
(Click on the links to see more information)
We are kitting out an entire village with seeds, trees, farm animals and tools.
We are also buying:
100 Stop Violence Against Women 00 Stop Violence Against Women Changemaker Kits
14 Condom Kits
2 Girl's Clubs
Essential medicines for an entire village
The decision on what to do with the money was made jointly between Ladyfest organisers, Oxfam shop staff & managers, those who donated money and some of the band members. This way we can all see exactly where our hard-work and donations are going to - everybody should be immensely proud because together we are funding some incredible projects and items. Thankyou for all your efforts and donations!
Although exhausting, and a few people dropping down with flu (and morning-after hangovers) mid-festival, we had a hectic but very enjoyable weekend - with everything from burlesque dancers to beautiful folk musicians to church hall swap-a-thons to film screenings to distros to unbelievable DJs to over-filling Oxfam donation tins...
THANKYOU so much to all of the people who helped make Ladyfest what it was; especially my magic team of organisers, all of the bands and DJs, the venues and my parents! You were all fabulous and I can't thank you enough for making this weekend such a success!
I am working on collecting all of the photographs, memories and so on from over the weekend which will hopefully go up in the next week or so. Keep checking back and maybe you'll see a picture of yourself on this page!
