mo & dawn: the remix project
The collaboration between trumpeter, singer/songwriter Dawn Weber and pianist and bandleader Mo Egeston began in 1997. The result has been a remarkably consistent string of successful bands including Vargas Swing, Vargas, and from 2000-2005 the pioneering live house band Urban Jazz Naturals.
Below is a video made by a fan/friend Matt Faupel (of Perfect Image of St. Louis) when mo & dawn: the remix project performed with the Urban Jazz Naturals. "Where I Want" was written by Dawn Weber and Mo Egeston (ASCAP) and produced by Christian Oncken (XJN) with additional live production by D. Tinsley.
mo & dawn's work as the Urban Jazz Naturals included the release of the Urban Jazz EP (Large/Vista) with a remix by Demarkus Lewis; How Can I (Gallery) with a remix by JT Donaldson; and a self titled EP on CD and vinyl. Building on the sound of UJN, the duo made the difficult decision to go “solo†in the summer of 2005 with the remix project. The sound is still all about live electronica, but with complete freedom of style and musical collaboration. The new set includes house, trip hop, electro funk, soul, acid jazz and drum& bass.
Mo has literally remixed every track that he and dawn wrote for ujn as well as some tracks from the original Vargas Swing EP and lots of new material. Ever busy writing and remixing tracks, mo & dawn look forward to hitting the road in 2007 with their new sounds.
You can now download our tracks with the various bands we've had through the years. Everything from Vargas Swing through the remix project, plus remixes and studio brews will be available here. This means that you can create you own standard CD from the mp3 files that you purchase. Check out the SNOCAP players above and below.
