About Me


Liam Campbell is not just your average Sheepshagger. Although he was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, he made his way to the U.S. at the tender age of 6. He fell under the influence of rock and roll which prompted to him to try a career in the music business before he found his true vocation in the kitchen.
Liam’s early training in the ways of cooking came through a stint in the U.S. Army where he mastered the fundamentals of preparing meals for vast, hungry audiences. After acquiring strong basic skills, Liam embarked on a study of haute cuisine under the tutelage of George Perrier, master chef at Le Bec Fin and winner of the Silver Toques from the Maitres Cuisiniers de France (the premier international society of French chefs).
Having wowed Perrier with his technique and creativity, Liam moved on to cook at some of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants including Ristorante Panorama, Plough and the Stars and Aden. Each new adventure gave him a chance to master another cooking tradition and broaden his own repertoire which now includes classic French, northern Italian, Celtic and Mediterranean dishes
After nearly 14 years in the kitchen – and even more years of sharing musical passions with fellow Iggy Pop fans -- Liam realized that there was a large neglected audience of people eager to learn about cooking. There are no cooking shows designed to attract the thousands of Generation X and Y’s who love rave parties and outrageous rock and roll. These fans – the every man and woman who thrive on creative expression but have no skills at the grill – are the audience that “ Lightning Liam ” hopes to reach. In “ Lightning Liam ”, Liam prepares every plate with a helping of Pure Cooking Fury that entices energetic young eaters. He’s aiming to create a cult of cooking that appeals to the untutored chef inside us all. “ Lightning Liam ” will transmit the flavors of the world into a vast swath of American households that share Liam’s great appetite for music and food. Like Julia Child and Paul Prudhomme before him, Liam Campbell is ready to reinvent the chef show for folks who just want a good plate of food -- with a side of guitar.
