About Me

CAROLE ALEXIS - LEAD SINGER /SONGWRITERCAROLE ALEXIS Born in Martinique Carole grew up traveling, studying and working between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. In consequence, her composition of different cultures manifest itself continuously through her art sharing with the audience the sense of an attachment to universal values. After receiving an artistic formation at the SERMAC, created by Aimé Césaire and directed by Jean-Paul Césaire, with consciousness of her heritage, she studied in Africa in the school of Maurice Bejart (MUDRA), created by Leopold Sedar Senghor and the UNESCO . Due to these choices, today her musical and choreographic creativity is imprinted of a particular resonance. She has worked on different continents with international companies and artists. Among the performances of Carole Alexis we can mention a few concerts in New York:.River to River Festival, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, with guest such as; Harry BELAFONTE, Danny GLOVER,Kathy ENGEL, Michael RATNER, THE MIGHTY SPARROW, Susan SARANDON and The Harlem Gospel Choir. With her group Osmoses, highlight of the FESTIVAL des FRANCOPHONIE DE NEW YORK, organized by different Embassy, she represents Martinique and they receive a very warm ovation. Osmoses is appreciated in great clubs such as: Big Apple Jazz, Shrine, S.O.Bs, Joes Pub, Satalla, Sugar Bar, etc. Her philosophy and her artistic performances are firmly grounded in the assurance that culture is a vehicle for the affirmation of our identity, a value that she takes from the teaching and the legacy of the three founders of the Negritude movement, Aimé CESAIRE, Leopold SESAR SENGHOR, and Leon GONTRAN DAMAS, Fathers of the Negritude. She believes that art is a tool to express, propose, and communicate the infinite possibility of humanity. She also believes that the artist must be a citizen living in the state of consciousness and should be a platform for cultural action leading to a reflection on the possibility of social change.GEORGES MARIE - BASS PLAYER/SONGWRITERBeyond and beside the fact that Joby is a great musician and a wonderful artist, what touches us is his amazing capacity to assemble people in order to create a music that becomes a cultural platform for the reflection of possible social change. Author/Composer/Songwriter/Bass Player/and Percussionist Georges Marie is often given that role of musical director in the many groups and projects that he has been involved in. After receiving training in SERMAC and in the pursuit of his international career, one can observe his strong sense of ethics, his consistency and loyalty. During the first years of his career he was a Poto Mitan of the mythic group 6eme Continent which has awaken to the consciousness and unity of the Caribbean identity that time was a very avant-garde movement. Today, its with that same passion that he utilizes his talent of author/composer/producer in the group OSMOSES to offer us the vision of a better world and another possibility of harmony.TED CRUZ - KEYBOARDS Ted Cruz plays keyboards and he is also producer and composer. Since graduating from University of North Texas in 1990, he has been active in both recording and performing with various jazz, rock, R & B, and classic music recording artists all over the world, such as Nat Adderly, Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, Steve Colemanto name a few. His recent music compositions/programming and production work has been featured on recording with such varied artists as Brittany Spears, Faith Hill, Monica, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith and Ice-T.THIERRY ARPINO - DRUMMERIntensity, Focus, and DepthThats Thierry Arpinos self-characterization in three words. If theres one thing he respects in a drummer and here hes talking about his greatest influences, including Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, and his own Father its the sense that a drummer is fully committed. Everything I play, reflects Thierry, I play strong. Thats why I love Elvin Jones so much and Tony Williams, and thats why I like rock drummers, too: They play hard and deep. Raised in France, Thierry earned the respect of peers, covering Brazilian, Cuban, African, rock, fusion, and jazz gigs. His face frequently appeared in Batteur magazine. Problem was, all of Thierrys real drumming and music idols were American. After an educational stay at Bostons Berklee College his professors urged him to move to the US. Finally, a few years back Arpino made his move to The Apple. In New York City, he began gigging with an astounding variety of artist. Of course, he is most known for his steady gig with electric violinist Jean Luc PONTY, with whom he records and tours. ____________________________________________________________ ____I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
Reviewer: Mr. Vladimir Monel January 27, 2007 Reviewer: Mr. Vladimir Monel I heard the song "La Foi" for the first time while watching the Haitian Hit Movie "PLUIE D'ESPOIR". It was so astonishing that I had to play the begining of the movie several times with my eyes close. Yes - With "La Foi" anyone can accomplish anything (not to say move mountains). Hats off to you Carole Alexis for such a great Masterpiece.

Alexis was born in Martinique and studied music and dance at SERMAC, an arts school founded by fellow countryman Aimé Césaire, an architect of négritude and one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. She also studied as a teenager in Senegal and France. The influence of the African Diaspora is keenly present, as the group blends sights and sounds from throughout the Diaspora to create quite a unique visual and tonal atmosphere.By Bryan Fleck - SOUNDS FROM THE FRENCH CARIBBEAN--------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------“Powerhouse vocalist and dancer, Carole Alexis Infuses indigenous roots music from her Native Martinique with Pop sensibility and African Soul.” Monique Martin - LMCC/ Intuition Entertainment Group

Sounds Like: DOUBLE CLIC TO GET YOUR OSMOSES CD AT:Carole ALEXIS, artiste (25 juin) Du Sermac à New York… A haute dose. PATRICE LOUIS - LE CLUB (Aug 3, 2006)
